oh and they are all the same size 205/50/17

I guess they will all have different handling / grip characteristics, so would assume that the will not handle too well at the moment.

I know that when I have used my spare, that is different to the rest of the tyres, I did notice a difference in handling.

Not what you want to hear but I would seriously think about changing them to one brand / tread pattern.

I'm no tyre expert or anything but as previously said, I'm sure it would affect the handling and maybe braking characteristics so not a chance I'd be willing to take.

Mine has continentals on it (205/50/17), fronts were obviously replaced recently before my ownership while the rears were on about 3mm tread - luckily the fronts are wearing in quicker (wonder why!) so I'll be replacing the lot soon with some 225/45/17.

I did complain to my dealer about the tyres being quite worn when I got it but there wasn't a lot they were going to do, understandably........

I am thinking of doing this myself, 225 Goodyear Eagle F1 goodness for £75 a pop.

Tyres

Just pay another 5er or so after you get them to a tyre place.

Also do the Proxes (very good) and Falken 452s for a good price.

They've lowered their prices since the last time I looked - I will be needing 2 new tyres in the next couple of months or so

can't find your tyres on the website dude !!!!

Had no problems, you arent looking hard enough. Make sure at the start you change speed rating and select all tyres.

How did you find the 225s over the 205s?

225s are a lot cheaper than the 205s for a start

Changed from Dunlop SP Sport 3000s to Toyo Proxes T1-R - that was a massive step up in grip for similar wear levels. The Dunlops just slid all over the place - the Toyos are very hard to unstick even when caning along :D

mpg is very similar and the speedo reading is the same as before so its all good as far as I am aware :)

Cool, sounds all good. Is ride quality affected at all?

Not that I can tell - sidewall height is only 1-2mm different between 205/50 and 225/45

Well Im sold then!

Cheers for the help.

No problem

So back on topic....

If the tread patterns are the same do the tyres look like they are the same on each axle.

If so give it a go for a few hundred miles and see what is what.

What tyre is on the spare?

The different tyres will definately affect the car as mine had 1 conti and 3 michelin on it and when i replaced the conti due to damage from bebris to a michelin the difference was huge.

Sorry for derailing the thread a little.

As mentioned though, do not scrimp on tyres as they are the only contact between you and the road, and I would not be happy having 4 different makes on each corner.

found em !! goodyear f1's, do they fit straight on the std 17" rims

Just got Goodyear Eagle F1's (225x45) on mine as I also had 3 different types of tyres when I bought it. Well impressed with them and feel a lot more confident now!

I got them from Event Mobile Tyres - Your Local Mobile Tyre Fitting Service. Well impressed, great friendly service, good price and they come to your own home or work to fit them. Also get a discount for 4 tyres.

Those guys want £110 a tyre though *gulp*!

I paid £87 for each tyre including fitting!

Are you sure you weren't looking at the extra load tyre?

Oh ****, I did. £348 inc fitting, not a bad price all told!

Saves hassle getting them fitted elsewhere!

Just looking, thanks for the tip about the low prices on mytyres. should i be looking for 7 or 7.5 ?

i too am looking togo from 205/50/17 to 225/45/17
