Will re-sale value on the Fab vRS go down once new Fabia goes into production

Featured Replies

I bet people are getting tired of me saying the same old thing...chuffed with my Fabia vRS. But was thinking recently...

Will re-sale value on the Fab vRS go down once new Fabia goes into production?

Any help appreciated

I'd say only when the new Fabia vRS goes into production , the 'normal' models won't hurt it I don't think.

Also it will depend on the cost of the new vRS, if it is priced high we may find the old model holds its value even better :D, imo this as been the case with the mk1 octy vRS, any thoughts?

Hi, Hate to say it but cars are not investments.

The Fabia price has dropped in the last few months as more and more people are trading their 3 year old cars so expect to pick up some bargains as this continues :D

Chris

Prices will drop, the model is quite old already, the price will take a hit when the new one comes out.

It will be a real bargain, but I intend to keep mine for quite some time to come :)

Undoubtedly.

Not a Fabia no, they are tools and when you buy to earn a living with it you have to weight the depriciation and other costs up very carefully.

I am currently in two minds about replacing mine. I love it to bits but I can't afford to take a loss over what I projected to loose on it as well the fact I have a kid on the way and I need something a little more sedate and easier on the back.

Do I risk it and replace after two years and 55000 miles or earlier to miss a potential price drop?

Or do as I did, and just say ***k it, keep it forever and then you never need worry about depreciation. Adapt the car to you, rather than get rid and renew. :)

Eg: New interior to help with the back issues. Rear seat room is OK for a kiddlywink to my knowledge

The milage I do it will be dead in 4 years :( The issues aren't so much the space it's the way it makes me drive ;)

But I like the way it makes me drive. :D Mine is now officially a "write-off"

It's ceased to become an asset, and as my loan to pay for it ends in Feb, from then on it's purely a quite useful toy plaything.

But I like the way it makes me drive.

So do I but it's not going to be good for a new born.

Been thinking of this;

Cheaper than a cheap thing. This would be a car I would drive into the ground.

You'll want a much bigger car than a Fabia for a kiddywink, imvho

Decron - worth considering whether the baby will be travelling in the car with you a lot as it may be worth keeping the Fabia as your main motor and buying a cheap load-lugger for any trips out with the baby?

I think the size is ok I just don't fancy cleaning baby sick out of the seats ;)

I guess the same thing will happen that happened to the mk1 vRS, and it all depends on if they keep producing the furby vRS in the old shape, when the new one is out. This is what they did with the mk1 octy vRS. They reduced the price from 15K to 12K during the runout, if they do this to the furby then resale will undoutably be affected.

Don't know if anyone has noticed but the dealers are trying to shift the whole fabia range. Take a look on ebay, and you will think some sort of instruction must have gone out, to get rid of them any way possible, loads and loads of Skoda dealer classified adds for their stock. I found this out doing a search for a mirror !.

Local dealer already has a 3500 mile 55 plate vR for

I'd buy that

I'd buy that

Good isn't it!

30k service intervals as well!

I wouldnt. I test drove a Signum after having similar thoughts, and hated it.

And it will continue to depreciate like a balloon too.
