creaking seat

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm just coming up for 4000 miles in my fabia 1.9 tdi estate. The driver's seat has developed a persistent creak. Do any of you know if this is a common problem, or one easy to fix? Just wondering if it's something a squirt of WD40 will fix, rather than the hassle of taking it to the dealer for repair.

Cheers

i had the same problem at 5500 miles dealer changed the seat base before even checking it the tech turnt round and said it is a common problem

I had the similar problem and moved the seat one click forward (or backward) and the creak stopped!

I have the same problem in my 1.9 Tdi and it is becoming quite annoying. Armed with this info, looks like a trip back to the dealer.

i had my base replaced, solved the problem. I think its a common fault

Was certainly a known problem on the octy, from what my local dealer said, but I don't know if it was common or just known.

is it expensive to get fixed?

Mines been doing it a while and it's getting more irritating:mad:

My 1.4TDi has this issue... I find giving it a little pump up on the hieght adjuster to your right tends to stop it though :D

An un-qualified oppinion here... but I believe that as we sit in the seat the hieght lowers over time and it needs a little pump now and then to keep pressure in the gas cylinders.... my guess anyhow :D

Mine does this too. Guess I'll be paying a visit to a dealer near me!

when i took mine in the dealer lubed it first as skoda stated a replacment base is expensive. Ended up replacing the base anyhow.

Had this prob on my Octy and after 2 years still in warranty , took it to the dealers and they replaced base and back , good deal as i had done 45k miles , and now have a new seat . However when they replace them they reuse the original covers .

Thanks all for the input. Moving the seat back or forward doesn't work, nor does adjusting the height. Looks like a visit to Mr Dealer...

All of my seats have squeeked at some point - started with driver so took it to the delaers only for the back to do it when I left the garage!!! Went back for that to be sorted and the day I left, my passenger seat is doing it now!!! Going slightly mad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine does it to, I just turn the radio up a little more. Will go try get it sorted though now

my drivers side had a new seat base about a 2 months ago (5000 miles) it has just started to do it again so when it has its service next wed they are going to have another look at it and also change the drivers side fron fog as it keeps misting up
