Felicia 1.3 L turning over but not starting

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am new to this forum and I think it is excellent with loads of good info.

Being a mechanical novice I am hoping someone can give some advice on the following.

My T reg Felicia 1.3L which I have had for a couple of years has been great but at the moment it is stuck on my drive. When trying to start the car this morning it is turning over but not catching. I have fitted a new battery recently. My dad siad to check the distributor cap but I am embarassed to say I am not sure where this is. Any help or other ideas very welcome.

many thanks

PM

Being a T-reg its probably an MPI and wont have a distributor cap, there will instead be a metal bar going across the top of the plugs which is a coil pack with the ignition controlled by ecu.

Really need to figure out if its fuelling or ignition causing the problem. Id probably start by checking that theres no obvious plugs have fallen off. It might be worth unplugging and replugging in the cable that runs to that bar across the top of the spark plugs.

without hearing the engine to hear if its turning over 100% normally and without being there to see other symptoms its going to be hard to tell whats going on. I believe the coil packs are known to go from time to time on these but you dont want to go replaceing that if theres nothing wrong with it.

Next morning it started fine and drove ok as it did the fllowing morning until it just died at some traffic light about 5 minutes into a journey and would not start again.

At the moment it is in SKoda garage and I wait to see what the fault is...hopefully not an expensive one!
