A Fabia Insurance question

Featured Replies

Hi!,

im in the process of taking driving lessons and i hope to pass by summertime or so. Ive become obsessed with the Fabia vRS and im wondering...

At the age of 20, with no previous driving experience or No Claims, do u think there is a remote chance that anyone will even consider insuring me on a Fabia RS once i get my licence?

anywhere below 2k a year would be a major bonus.. i dont think there is a way i could realistically afford anywhere massively high tho. Other option would be getting my dad to insure it i guess.

Could u give me an opinion on my query and tell me what Age/cost range your insurance is in.

thanks a lot

hope i can join u in owning a skoda by 2005 :D

Less than 2k shouldn't be a problem...on paper it's not that much of a hot hatch.

Of course, if you live in a good area that'll help matters no end... :D

My area isnt too bad as far as i know.. it would be kept in a garage.

2k is a high figure anyway mind :).. i would hope to get it as low as possible (obviously:))...

reckon im being stupid for considering splashing out so much on a first car?.. im one of those people who seems to always get the best he can (cant really) afford.

If you want it, get it... :D

Yeah you should manage less than 2K. Just shop around. Adrian Flux would be a good start as they are a broker and check lots of companies.

Im only 25, but hav 5yrs no claims, and mine is about

True' date=' we rule! :D

Anyway mate, if it hasn't been said before, welcome to the forum.

I assume you have read this and this thread.

Useful stuff in there.

I'm with elephant, but would have gone with Adrian Flux as they were cheaper. Only reason I didn't go with AF is they wouldn't insure the car with my gf on it (she has a french driving license which has just been swapped over for a UK one).

Also, I think AF are more "mod friendly". The king of insurers for mods is of course Liverpool Victoria, but when I tried them, they didn't seem that keen on insuring under 25's, so I guess your in the same situation ;)

Best thing to do is shop around. As you say, you may not have any NCB, but at least you have a clean license and live in a good area with a garage, so that's a plus point

Good luck. And you'll love the car. Have you tried one out ? Look in the events section of the forum for the annual meet and come along if you can make it. You'd be able to put faces to our wacky names then ;)

Depends, if you go for fully comp you will be classed as a high risk depite your age, due to your limited driving experience. I don't know about the Fabia vRS, but I will warn you than you might have to get used to hearing the sucking of teeth and no or really high quotes. I struggled to get good value insurance of the Fabia TDi and had to go under my parents even though I have had a years drivng experience, and live in a low risk area. At 20 and (assuming your male) I'd say that for a desirable car like the vRS Fabia you'd be looking at 2K with zero no claims and zero years driving experience. Might come down a bit with pass plus. Insurers won't be too happy to insure you on a brand new car too if they offer a new car should you write it off in the first year.

I wish you luck but us young 'un's have to bear the cost of insurance. :thumbdwn:
