What's my Superb worth???

Featured Replies

I might be breaking the forum rules by this post, but I don't think I am. Might be looking to sell the Superb soon and wondering what I'd get private and what I'd be likely to get if I traded in against a 15k motor. It's the Elegance spec with 57k miles, Leather, sat nav and as you can see from my sig, a few tasteful extras. For those of you who haven't seen a piccy, here is an old one below minus the tints.

Not sure how much it would be worth, so sorry to be no help on that front.

Is it your intention to sell the car as it stands? reason for asking is I rather like those wheels!

Not sure what I'm doing yet. I'm looking at a VX220 Turbo at moment and might see what he'll give me trade-in.

For one with 30K on the clock, Parkers says

Looked at Parkers prices but they seem too low. I looked on Ebay and Autotrader and they seem to be going for more than Parkers price. There was one on Autotrader for £12k!!!!!!!!!!!! The cheapest same spec/age on autotrader is going for £11k.

VX220? Are you having a mid-life crisis? Or can you not afford a Lotus, LOL!!

Sorry to hear about the plans mate!!

(PS. If it does goes then you know what I would be after off it!!)

parkers are usually quite high.

autotrader prices are cars offered for sale.. doesnt mean they do.

Would that be the leather Baker??? or the Dragon unit??

The Vx220 is up for £15k and I would only goto a maximum of £6k + my car. I will probably end up not getting it anyway. I like the idea of the sports car, but I love the comfort of the Superb. Ideally I would like to keep both, but I can't justify £400 month in car loans for next 5 years!!!

I would ideally like the leather but I think that realistically the Dragon Box is the option I would like.....let me know mate!!

I think its worth £9k all day long.

Could always sell the Superb privately... ;)

Classy looking car. How much difference does the Dragon make - any downside?

Better MPG on economy setting and more BHP on performance setting (175 BHP from Octygone's). A bit more soot when caning it but thats about the only downside.

I think you'd be in for a very nasty suprise if you got a trade in price for the Superb, they are not worth much unfortunately as there is very little market for second hand ones outside the taxi industry.

Why would he want the Lotus when he can have a better built, more reliable, cheaper, faster version of the same car?

The Superb is a lemon and is worth nothing secondhand. However, if you buy a used diesel (pre Cat IV, 4 cyl AWX engine) and run it into the ground, you could have some useful cheap and comfortable motoring - as long as you have room to park the thing.

With a galvanised body and plenty of pattern spares (Passat B5 based) it's quite a good long term prospect. Expect to have to rebuild the front suspension and re-bush the rear axle at least once per lifetime.

Purely because it is a Lotus!! I mean come on it's 'Loads of Trouble and Usually Serious' why wouldn't you want one over a Vauxhall? LOL!!

You seem to 'sing off the same hymm sheet' a lot on the forum mate?

Do you want your Superb to be a Passat? Also I have never read anyone on this forum having suspension problems even though you mention it regularly?

Apologies if this seems a little blunt....

The reason that suspension problems have not yet shown up in great numbers on the Superb is simply because Superbs are, on average, a lot younger than Passats.

If you want an acid test on resale values, see what your dealer will give you for your car with no trade in. Then compare it with a Passat of the same year.

I don't care what badge is stuck on the car as long as I know what it is, and what its strengths and weaknesses are. I make the point about the front suspension because I've been there on a Passat and it's not a nice job. Freeing the pinch bolts once a year makes a huge difference to how long it takes to replace the arms.

The great thing about a Forum like this one is that by sharing knowledge we can save people a lot of trouble and money.

I think the term 'lemon' is a bit OTT - it is true big would be luxury cars from budget manufacturers normally suffer devastating devaluation. There is probably a market for this particular car at the moment though as it is still young enough to be registered as a cab (in my area anyway).
