warrenty (3month not manufacturer) ran out yesterday and it developed a fault, electronic testing light came on the dash for no reason but the car drove fine, this morning it wouldnt start until the 5th attempt, all the other electronics were fine just the ignition didnt fire it up...anyone any ideas???

battery or alternator problem??

car headlights and radio were fine and its the wrong light for battery/alternator fault. was just curious if anyone had had this problem before, i guess with it being an electronic fault it could be any of a pretty big list of things,im off tonight to have them plug it in to see what the logger says. does anyone know if the vagcom or whatever they use to read the fault also records a date the fault occurs?(would be helpful as it would give proof it was still in warrenty when the fault developed.)

hi chaps, just a quick one, it was the temperature sensor for the coolant that had read high, they've ordered a new one and cleared the fault. since then its not cropped up, funnily enough the car was started cold when the light popped up as i set off.

I had the same fault, the water temperature light would occasionally come on solid on a cold start. Turn the engine off and start it again, it'd be fine. Alex Lawrie replaced the whole coolant tank rather than just the sensor. It's one of the three things I've had done on warranty... which reminds me, I need to go and have another moan about the gearbox. And new engine bay rattles. And knocking through the steering column. And...

funnily enough my engine bay has a rattle, sounds like someone tapping an empty tin can under the bonnet when i go over bumps or turn either way. getting them to take a look at it when its on the ramps.
