Fabia vRS ECU's

Featured Replies

Is their a difference in the vRS ECU's between the first 53reg till the latest?

Thinking about selling my remmaped ECU but not sure if all ECU's are the same.

I know cars after 04 had 3 flash. Is this a feature of the ECU or other components of the car?

Cheers

edit. Is the miles stored in the ECU at all or just the cluster?

I know of at least two versions of the ECU code - letters LA and NF at the end of the part number. Whether these represent two physically different units or just different software, I don't know.

Miles are on the ECU as well as the cluster although I don't think they are connected.

It can be read with VAG-COM.

3 flash indicators are driven by the comfort control unit AFAIK not the ECU.

So if one was to have a new ecu the miles would not be correct to the car? On the ECU that is.

AFAIK John, that is the case.

Ross-Tech: VAG-COM Tour: Applications

EDC-15 Mileage] On some (but by no means all) TDI ECUs, VAG-COM can show an independent "odometer" reading stored in the ECU. This can useful as a means of cross-checking the mileage on used car at time of purchase, particularly in Europe where odometer fraud is rampant. We plan to extend this functionality to as many ECUs as practical in the future.

One thing that is better with the LA version - the EGR can be turned down to 5% active - on the NF series only 10% minimum is permitted by the ECU. (this info from a tuner).

I adapted a mapped LA version to my 2005 vRS no probs - the OEM one was NF........

Don't forget Bas that the ECU you adapted may have said LA on the tin but on the inside it was a NF ;)

aha, I stand corrected.... Oh well....

I dont plan on keeping the standard map ;) anyway. Going for somthing a little more DIY ;) If Jason reads this he may understand from the TDIclub.

Just thinking of trying to recover some money from my ECU to fund the new map. But I like the idea of keeping my original ECU now.
