My Rolling road results

Featured Replies

I made 190.4Bhp at the rolling road day at JKM at the weekend, which is a fair increase from just exhaust and intake n a couple of little things, but i was looking at the llb/ft of torque figures, a standard octy rs apparently is 173llbs/ft of torque, whereas mine hit a max of 198llbs/ft @ just 2700rpm thats 25 up on standard which i was quite impressed with. My torque curve was good aswell only falling to 176llbs/ft @ 5700rpm before dropping off, i think this is quite a wide power band, cant wait for the remap, wanna keep them figures just alot higher up lol,

I wouldn't mind trying that N75 mod.

All you need now is an Octavia. :P

N75 mod?

different n75 version, its meant to boost quicker and hold longer, and looking at my results to the other standard ish octy vrs mk1 there id say it was true

Are there any guides or steps to follow for this?

i don't think i'm using the N75 on my car.

I havent a clue, how would you tell?

if yours is standard then you will be running the N75, mine has been messed about with though on many occassions

Do a search on Google for N75 and it gives you a company in the States called ECS Tuning that sell the different N75 valves for the 1.8T engine, that claim to improve the performance.

They are standard VAG parts but the part number varies slightly by descriptor.

Some say that the version H improves boost and some say version J is an all round improvement.

The H or J is the last letter of the part number. I think original is C but I could be wrong.

Found a picture which shows you where to look -

They're an ok cheap mod for a standard car but totally pointless when remapped and usually cause problems. Most remappers will advise you to put the standard one back on before they map it you tell them it's on.

I can't see how there totally pointless on remapped cars? Can you explain?

Are they easily located in the bay?

because the map controls the N75 which controls boost so the map can do anything a different N75 can, however if the map doesn't know you have a different N75 it behaves incorrectly and can cause running problems. It often feels faster because of the initial surge but is actualy slower because the ECU is constantly backing off. I know Custom-Code, Jabba and Revo advise against them and others probably do too.

Not that I like agreeing with Eddy :P ;) but he is right.

yep he is right i tried a j on my jabbered octy and it slowed it down so i sold it to someone in the usa

I have had the car remapped, and have been told that i need to replace the N75 valve, as this is what is giving the car the surging feeling whilst accelerating hard. Which one should I go for, and where do it source it?

i get all my stuff from vag parts on the net

Standard one from a Skoda dealer is what you want.
