Low Temperatures=funny bleep

Featured Replies

Sorry this is probably part of the owners guide, but any idea what the trip computer "bleep" and flashing along with attention to the fact the external temp was showing 4 degrees is all about ???

Yes, its cold, I know I can damn well feel it. I am not sure why the car has to remind me?? Perhaps its the opposite of the ads for the Roomster  Is my car Christine ???

The bleep is 'Possible Ice Warning'

its a warning for icy conditions possible on the roads. usually when that sensor comes on you start seeing the gritters, spreading.

Its to remind you to put your thermal undies on!!!

Twice the bong came on recently - twice when I'd not put the Talex in the car.

1st time it came on 30 yds after 1st Gatso near our home.

2nd time it came on 20 yds after 2nd Gatso near our home.

Twice I was nearly at the hospital for heart failuire - but, on the whole, I'd rather have some warning of potential ice ahead than not.

My Mondeo has a nice orange snow flake that lights up when the temp is below 4c and when it gets to 0c it turns orange.

Another nice touch is that when you start the car in temps below 4c it automaticaly turns on all the heated stuff, front & rear screen, mirrors, washer jets and sets the A/C on to help de-mist too, then you just turn up the heated leather seats and bask in instant warmness!!

That is probably the laziest gadget ever... I want a Mondeo!!

If only all cars were that smart

If only all cars were that smart

all is well till the day it goes wrong andthe heated seats warm you on a hot summers day

Yes, I could never understand why my clock switched itself to temperature display if less than 4 degrees outside. Good old Briskoda for enlightening me that ambient temperature is different from ground temperature so warns of unseen - and more particularly unexpected - possible ice patches. All clever stuff, especially once you understand what it's trying to tell you...

I figured it would be this but why do it part-way through the journey, instead of other instances where you start the journey and its been colder = no warning :o)

Mind you, I think you'd have to be pretty sensually deprivated to NOT realise the temparature prior to entering the vehicle given how sodding cold it is, so I guess they probably got it about right...

Don't sensors all belong to the same union and like to go on strike randomly to make sure we know they're in charge ;)

Sorry, not much help.

.

Consider this...... the temp at the start of your journey may be 5 degrees. You drive a litte distance, and the air temp is 4 degrees - the warning bong comes on.....you carry on a while, temp increases - drops - "bong".

:D

My 2001 fabia sdi doesn't bleep when its cold - the display just changes to temp and the snowflake flashes.

It doesn't do that three indicator flashes with a flick of the stalk either.

But it always makes me jump when it beebs demanding diesel.

glad im not the only one who jumps on the low fuel bleep. plus i always get strange looks from passengers unused to it :o

My mam was driving her new octavia and is a skoda virgin. She jumped a mile when the fuel warning beeped!
