Disabling & Enabling Delayed Wiper Operation

Featured Replies

Many seem to want to disable what I think is a great feature but should you feel that way then with the aid of VAG-COM you can do so. Don't blame me if it goes wrong. :P

Select Controller 09

Login 21343

Choose Adaption 10

Select Channel 05

Modify it to 0 (Default is 5 for Enabled).

Nice one mate! was wondering how this might be done for some time.

Great feature for Europe, but can be a bit of a pain if you want wiping to stop at a certain point.

Can't wait to try it!

Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.....

Morning all,

I've just done this mod to a 54 plate Fabia vRS, and after a bit of experimentation have found that the channel number actually varies dependant on the software version in the controller. Basically:

Controller 09

Login 21343

Adaptation 10

Software Part Number 6Q?-937-049-B and before is Channel 08

Software Part Number 6Q?-937-049-C and later is Channel 07

Set it to 0 to turn it off, or insert a value between 0 & 255, for the number of seconds for the delay, before the final wipe ('tear wipe' according to VAGCom).

Hope this helps someone in the future!

Got me a Rosstech Vagcom Lead last week and this is gonna be my 1st job! Bloody annoying it is!

Does this work on Mk1 Octy's ? or just the newer model?

what is this actually enabling/disabling in english???

The delayed wipe of the screen, after you've applied screenwash.

Especially at this time of year, people find it annoying, because by the time it sweeps again, you may already have some more salt/grit deposit on the screen again, which then smears.

Totally. It's great in light rain as the extra wipe clear up the `foam` but in jan/feb it's a right royal pain.

dont think i have the delayed wipe then?

You should, you do the wash wipe, get the wipes, then an extra wipe a few seconds later. If you DIY first the extra one doesn't happen.

I guess your garage could have turned it off for you before you got the car :)

guess they have as i couldnt get this to happen today.

I thought it was a std OctyII feature, ah well :)

I'd be of the opinion - enable it Spring/Summer, disable Autumn/Winter, if you could be bothered :D

I posted this for the Fabia - Perhaps I should have made it clearer.

Very possibly a similar setup on the Octy 1.

Thanks! Channel 7 worked for me... Constantly getting some smearing when cleaning the desert dust off the windshield

You're missing out - I love mine. Get it enabled pronto ;)

It's disabled as a standard from factory from MY07 onwards.

Maybe they were getting a lot of ****ed of client complaints about this and decided to remove the extra wipe.

Also note that the extra wipe is not happening if the wiper stalk is either on intermittent or rain sensor position. It only works when the stalk is on neutral position.

Can this be enabled on earlier Fabias?

I have an 02 and 04 without it.
