Milltec sports Exhaust

Featured Replies

Had the exhaust fitted today. But before they fitted it they did a power run on the rollers and it came back with 145bhp and 250lbs of torque. I have only done the PD160 mod and a K&N panel filter.

The exhaust was fitted and the car again put on the rolling road. This time the power was 141bhp and still 250lbs of torque. The unfortunate event that happened between the two power runs is that it got 5 degrees warmer and that meant less dense air. The first run was done at 8C ambient temp and the second at 13C. That affects the actual charge temp and dioes not give a true like for like reading. Ideally the temperature could have done with being the same for a each run. But the power comes in much earlier and last longer than the before. The car is quicker on the road and the engine is much eager to pull. Plus you have a nice deep and low exhaust note that it not intrusive. It sounds like a V8 sort of noise. Plus you can hear the whistle the turbo makes when spooling up more. Which is always good!

My tuner says that to benfit fully from the exhaust, a re map is needed which will be on the cards. But my brakes are in need of replacement and I will look into a re map after they are fitted.

Overall I would recommend anyone to fit an aftermarket exhaust. People say that you dont gain much in power. Tuning road cars is not about power but making the car more driveable and the power more usable. Though it appears that I lost bhp on paper. It is not true due the different air temps of each run. The car runs much better, sounds better and looks better! Well worth it!
