There may be a cure for the BLT Engine Stutter

Featured Replies

You should bear in mind that this is not approved by Skoda or it's dealer network and if you choose to do so it is at your own risk.

Ok, here goes. Some of you may well be aware that Skoda (SUK) rolled out an interim fix for the dreaded stutter that affects PD130 engines with the BLT engine code and some new PD100 engines. This consisted of a gasket with a hole drilled in it fitted near the EGR.

More info here - Fabia-vrs.com - Hesitation around 1800 rpm - Fabia vRS - BLT engine code.

I have been contacted by an owner who has carried out his own modification which has thus far improved things.

A new gasket was made with an 8mm hole in and fitted in place of the OEM one.

The difference is amazing.

My Stutter was cured by my dealer a while ago but the power delivery has always had a flat spot and a rough tick over but these are now gone and the engine spins up quicker and smoother also I can now hear the turbo spinning which I have never heard in 6k miles in this 06.

I hope this helps.

I know it's not dealer approved, and will void warranty, but would a full EGR replacing racepipe (and block off EGR on the engine) have the same effect? Is it the EGR which is causing the stutter?

I think it's to do with recircing the Gases Jason. The full pipe is a bit OTT for a brand new car I think.

Is the stutter technically a missfire ???

No, would seem its explained in the link above.

TBH I'd say it was a little irresponsible posting this - anyone with the stutter is in an 06 or newer car and as such stands to lose a great deal by attempting this.

Maybe thats why he put a disclamer at the beginning??

Surely the disclaimer at the top covers most aspects and then if you read the TSB you will see that the person whom carried out the mod did it almost to the same spec as the original SUK fix which was known to almost cure the problem but didn't meet the stringent EU emmisions regs.

You can say of this as any deviation from the manufacturer's specification - you do so at your own risk, I can't make it any clearer. If you don't like it don't do it - simple.

Yeah, fair call.

Its a fair point, how does a remapped vRS do with regards to EU4 emissions?

Bet you its no worse than fitting a gasket to limit the EGR.

You could say that this whole forum, and its users, are irresponsible useing that argument, as all the discussion around remaps, zust systems and all other mods means that anyone with a Skoda which is less than 3 years old stands to lose a great deal by attempting any of the stuff posted on here.....
