Is a bent boot floor a write-off?

I've been looking at the Skoda UK website, but they only have low mileage cars of that age.

As long as I am not out of pocket, then I will be happy.

At least I won't get hit with the 120k service bill.

I would have said it was more like £4k, looking at Autotrader. The Trade-In guide on the Vauxhall website puts mine, which is almost identical to yours, at just over £3k in average condition (from memory).

The insurance company wrote off my 205 when I was rear-ended at some lights. New light cluster and bumper, plus a little pulling of the body work and it was just fine. Drove it for a few months then gave it away. Repaired vehicles are worth very much less as it scares people off, so maybe you should take the money and run.

1) £5500 (yaktrebor)

2) £4000 (51OctyTdi)

I hope you get more than that too!

NEVER, and I mean never, accept the first offer you get from the insurance company.

Good to arm yourself with adverts for similar cars too. :)

Why not? I did, but they'd offered Glass's first off, with correct adjustment for mileage (and was in a hurry to get the money cos I'd found a replacement I needed to move on).

Our 2002 L&K 110 tdi estate was a categorie D write off at the end of last year, 115000 miles on it & they gave us 6400 for it less the excess (£100). We bought it back & the same garage sourced s/hand parts & repaired it.

If you really like the car get a quote for repairing it using s/hand parts, it might be viable, ours had Xenons list price was over £1000 , s/hand I think it was £300 for the pair & so it goes on. We had owned the car from new & knew all its history & it was a better option than buying an unknown car for the money they gave us

If you repair it take loads of pictures & it will make it easier to sell

Im guessing you will be offered about 5000 & if its cat D you should be able to buy it back for about 1250.

If its a cat C writeoff I would look a lot harder before you buy it as you will need an a DVLA check before you put it back on the road, The Insurance company will probably ask for an engineers report as well If its cat D its light damage & just not financially viable to fix with new bits.

I might be selling the L&K shortly PM me if your interested & I will let you know if & when its available

Finally had a letter from the insurance company...

As I thought..........

The car is to be written off.......

They have offered.......

Well I'm happy I was wrong - that seems generous to me considering what you can buy for £4k. Are you going to try and buy it back?

I'm thinking, if I bought it back and repaired it, then it would be almost worthless if I tried to sell it in a few years time.
