I'm in Exeter at the moment and what everyone else has had as snow we've got as rain. This morning I found the passenger side footwell a good 2 inches deep in water. Bad felicia.

Looking around on here it seems the most likely explanation is the windscreen seal. The 'foam' type stuff under the passenger side dash by the fuse box is drenched.

Is there anything else it might be other than the windscreen seal, and how do I go about replacing it? I'm no mechanic but have reasonable common sense, I managed to fix the broken door lock that I'm pretty sure happens to ever felicia owner at some point!

ok after a lot of reading and a quick inspection of the windscreen (in the dark with a torch) I can't really see that the seal is bad. The entire windscreen was replaced over the summer, and I did have this problem once before that even. There is a plastic bit that isnt really quite flush with the windscreen but I can't thats the problem.

How easy is it to get the gubbins out on the passenger side to look for other problems? Or equally what else should I look at from the bonet side? I can't find these drainage plugs that might need un blocking! where are they?

God I hate leaks!!

as for the leaks, join the club. got a bit of a drip in mine but not put me finger on it yet (no pun intended) i think it might have somethink to do with the rubber strippes that run along the roof, and down the sides of the windscreen. only a hunch but might be worth a thourght.

After the rain last night I found my carpet was a tad moist. The thing I noticed on mine is that someone previously has run/replaced the speakers wires in the front doors and the little grommet things were hanging out. I've refitted them which was a real S.O.B. and I'm hoping this was my leak. We'll see . . .

Had a fair bit of heavy rain today and my passenger carpet is more than moist. DOH!!!

Think I'll borrow next doors aquavac and suck most of it out for now until I can pinpoint it.

hello, i've posted before about my leaks!

I thought I'd wait until it rained again then go inspecting glove boxes, door seals, sunroof, under the carpet etc. It just rained and NOTHING!! There is no water to be seen inside my car so I'm now really confused, not that I'm complaining.

The first time it happened, I could trace water coming in at the bottom of the door, and seeing as the foam bit isn't wet I think that might be the culprit in my case. Next time it leaks I intend to take the passenger seat out though to find the drainage thing.

I was away from home for five weeks over Xmas and new year, visiting South Africa. When I got home the poor little Felicia was like a mobile swimming pool and a tad mouldy (Fungus the Bogeyman would have loved it). It looks like a new windscreen seal is on the books >:(

I did manage to find a couple of rubber bungs filling some drainage holes in the sills. They were located at the back of the sills, buried under lashings of underseal. I managed to dig them out with a screw driver. When they were released, the water just gushed out (make sure you have been to the lav before you do this), but the floorpan didn't clear quite so easily.

damn, just registered to ask this very question. Bought my felicia estate 1.6 2 weeks ago, first it over heated (new fan switch) now its got 3inch of water in the passenger side footwell.

My estate has just started leaking this summer after 4 years of my ownership and another four of somebody else's. It only did it when parked in certain side winds. I had cause to replace the screen a few weeks back, it will confirm once and for all whether the rain is coming through on the screen seals or somewhere else.

This seems a common enough problem for someone to have come up with the correct solution. Given the amount of Felicia's sold did UK dealers or the factory have an answer?

ok so on my lunch break me and a work pal go looking round my felicia looking for the leak armed with pop bottles full of water. it seemed the water was getting under the hood via the hole where the wire enters the passenger side indicator. as for how its getting through the suposedly water tight covering im not sure. we took the battery out and the back 2 screws from the mount were missing, a possible entry point, but tbh it looked dry as a bone.

anyway long story short on the way home i get all rash and decide i can DIY this (this happens once every year or 2 with me and frequently ends in blood shed!) off i go to wickes, bought my self a tube of silcon, a gun thingy and a can of spray water proofing stuff for roofs and the like. I silconed the hole at the back of the indciator and sprayed the intire area with this mean black stuff......... then i spent around a hour seeing strange orange blobs and feeling pretty stoned, no joke that stuff is evil. im thinking i shouldnt have done it in wickes car park and driven home with a car full of fumes :(

Spent all morning on mine as I now have a funky foot spa situation going on in the passenger footwell.

Like djinn I also think that the gap behind the indicator hole could be the culprit. On mine there is a hole at the top where the wing meets the body and this is exposed to rain etc . . .

I also noticed that I could get a feeler gauge blade in between the skins where the main loom goes into the car. But I doubt this is the cause as it is quite recessed.

So I have put a bit of silicone in the holes at the top of the wings for now to see what happens.

What I do find strange is that I poured water over the windscreen and could not simulate the leak. The car was mocking me along with the dashboard eating the skin off of my knuckles and the weather slowly putting me in to a state of hypothermia.

The saga continues . . .

1st and 2nd time they tried silicon, 3rd time they replaced the seal which cured it.

Three different fitters came out to it, all of them said they are called out to 2 or 3 leaky Felicia's a week.

They said a lot of Felicia's leaked even when new.

i had the leak on mine - bought some black windscreen sealant from halfords applied it thoroughly both sides of the front windscreen rubber - this took about half an hour - result problem solved - i would recommend squeeze plenty in more so on the bottom corners . oh thi good cars though these felicias

well its raining heavily and the puddle is back :( the silcone on the back of the side indicators has stopped the water getting under the bonet and the spongey covering there seems dry now. But the foam under the dash is still soaking / dripping, although the screen looks to be ok its the only thing left to try, booked the car in for an inspection at Autoglass tomorrow afternoon, cant think what else to do.

When my sunroof was leaking, the water got all the way to the floor well passanger side! so if you havent already done it, try and seal the sun roof. Hope this helps

I found by shining a torch on my window seal, I could see the water running past it.

When my sunroof was leaking, the water got all the way to the floor well passanger side! so if you havent already done it, try and seal the sun roof. Hope this helps

Was that an electrically operated sunroof, or a manual one?

Well I seem to have cured mine at the moment. It rained last night and after sticking my head in the car this morning the footwells were DRY.

The only trouble is is that I'm not sure what did the trick. Was it:

A). The sealer I applied on the holes at the top of the wings just under the bonnet where the they join the body.

. The sealer I applied just under the windscreen rubber in the bottom corners.

C). The new Carnauba Wax Polish I applied all over the car including the windscreen and rubbers.

yup mine is dry after a night of heavy rain. auto glass were no help, the tube of windscreen sealer from halford all round the rubber holding the wind screen in did the job.

anyone with a leak no matter how much your windscreen looks sound! i can only say try that first i have been right round the houses with this, when i should have just listened to the advice here to start with /bow

I used Fish tank sealer. NiCE!!!

My argument was: If it can hold 100 litres of water in then it can hold some rain out.

Another night of rain and again the Skud has dry floors.

I know people don't want to accept it but I'm convinced that 99.999999% of the leaks are due to the windscreen seal.

As djinn says do yourself a favor and spend half an hour with some windscreen sealer. It's worth it in the end.
