Performance Panel Air Filter

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of any performance panel air filters available for the vRS 2 and where is the best place to buy from? (I'm not after an induction kit at this stage).

Also I've just started reading posts about VAG-COM. Can I use the software to read my boost pressure and air fuel ratio?

Thanks

K&N or Pipercross make them. If they don't list them for skoda, they are the same product as the MkV Golf GTi.

I bought my pipercorss from Performance Car Parts, Bodykits, Styling, Alloy Wheels

I prefer the pipercorss as it is a dry filter rather the K&N oil based.

can you get them for normal 2.0 tdi's the replace the icky paper one? (and is there much point)

Is there any point changing the panel filter? no performance gains.

Just buy the induction kit. ROAR

Its the indction ROAR that I don't want. Had an induction kit for a while on my Fiat coupe 20VT. Sounded like Darth Vader was living in my glove box

I'm not expecting any real performance gains from the panel filter, but every little helps ;) , especially at the top end where our tiny turbo runs out of puff.

If you aren't expecting gains from your panel filter you may be surprised.

I have been running one for a while now and recently removed it and replaced it with the OEM paper one. Big difference.

do the panels affect the warranty? what do people on here do when they go in for servicing, put the paper back in or tell the dealer not to throw the foma one away!

Bit to cryptic for me Stu. Panel filter  or OEM paper one  ?

Double post.

Panel Filter mate.

Based on recent 'data' I reckon there is around a 5bhp gain to be had from changing the stock OEM panel filter to a K&N or similar so worthwhile imho

Or I had mean't to add EVOMS  ?

Guess there might be a spare panel filter or 2 going cheap now. ;)

Might be a K&N being offered shortly if you're interested?.

Afraid I don't have one so Mr Fish is your man.

You've got PM Mr Fish.

Hey, Sworrall had a good question and I think I'd like to know that too! Is replacing the filter a warrenty no-no? Also are there any potential short or long term problems with doing this. For example I toyed with the idea of replacing the air filter on my Polo G40, there was a small BHP gain in doing so. However, the G40, like the G60, relied upon a supercharger to delivery its impressive take off speed (no breaks though!!). However, after doing alot of digging I was advised to avoid even this simple mod as it could play havoc with the supercharger. The units themselves were hardly robust and costly to replace and even recondition. If you have ever had one of these blow (and if you manage to own a G40 for long enough without crashing it IT WILL)....as I did it makes a really big mess of the engine too!

As you know by now, I tend to think matters through.....alot and so are there any problems in doing this?

Cheers,

M

Sold

I was under the impression that the filter, like other consumables, you are free to do with as you please provided it is of equal or better quality than the OEM part.

Thats good enough for me. K&N panel it is. Wish I'd bought one before my remap, but hopefully it will still push my figures from 248.6bhp to over 250  . (Well at least until my next rolling road session proves otherwise :P )

Thanks

Now back to my second 'off topic' question, will VAG-COM tell me my boost pressure and air fuel ratio?

I've got the pipercross foam one and I am sure it is oil based too? Feels like it to the touch anyway....?

Whose 'remap' and RR gave you those figures?. From experience I think you'll find that may be a little optimistic.
