I thought insurance would be cheaper owning a felicia, having come from a citroen saxo, wrong!

Are there any insurers who specialise in Skodas?? I doubt anyone will nick it ever (although it would be a very reliable get away car!)

I think its just a case of setting a morning aside and hitting the telephone / keyboard, until you get some sensible quotes.

When I got a Felicia, quotes were all over the place.

Its amazing how little things can makes a difference too - I had just been made redundant, but one company managed to reduce their quote by

mine cost quite a bit less than my old fiesta, the man on the phone said it was cuz not many people my age drove then, and evan less made clames on them. all i can say is shop around.

dosen't the site have partners in this field, sure i can remember seeing that somewere.

my 1.3 was cheaper to insure than a 900cc cinquecento, even moving to a higher rated crime area and having to park on street instead of a driveway didnt seem to make much of a difference. it did take a bit of shopping around, but like pink my insurers agreed that it was a "safe" car to insure, and they generally had a good track record of not being claimed against.

if you spend half an hour bouncing quotes between 2 or 3 companies youd be surprised how much they can drop the price by.. i managed to get mines down by

the felicia is way too easy to break into......... bad on security, but that is normally ignored as no-one steals them :)

I got 2 felicias, 1 motorbike and the house + contents all insured full risks for about £750 a year

i'd expect the same if i came back to the UK

My insurance is quite cheap, for a 22 year old female student who has no no claims bonus' and lives in a very high crime area in Leeds! Am I allowed to recommend an insurance company on here? I spent quite a long time shopping around and there was a supermarket cheaper than the one I have but I didn't want to be insured with a supermarket in case I fell out with them and then I wouldn't want to buy my food from there and it's one of my favourite supermarkets! Anyway, sorry to deviate but neither are Skoda specialists but they are the cheapest I could find. Sorry I don't like to mention the companies in case that's not allowed... L

not a chance!!!

then i aint coming back :D

Money saving expert failed me.

But I think its because I have a bad combination of things

20k mls a year

business class insurance

live in Manchester (salford)

There are some excellent sites out there, not sure if I can mention them. The interesting thing with the Felicia is that I can get insured ok (21 y/o) with prev accidents, however my sister, 18 (at the time) couldn't get insured - car was too well specced!! WHAT!! Its a standard Skoda Felicia GLXi! It doesn't really add up.

Am I allowed to recommend an insurance company on here?

I don't think there is any problem with mentioning / recommending a particular company in a thread - assuming its not for personal gain.

Selling your own product/service without being a partner member, or having a commercial link in your signature are not allowed though.

Hello,

If its the 1.3 version make sure and hammer the point home it is definitely only 1.3 engine 1298cc and no more. Here in Ireland I tried to get insurance on mine originally it cost

sorry to go off topic. but can you tell me more about that 16v version? never heard about that befor.

I used confused.com for my quotes, really quick and easy - nope I am not associated with them!! I found a good link to insure your motor and got mine for about £600! Can't complain. they wouldn't insure my sister on it though.

I'm just re- treading this particular road to insure my 18 year old son as a named driver..ho ho ho.

Felicia 1.3MPI Estate GLi

Cheapest quote for wife alone..age 46 was £147

Cheapest quote for both of us..me being 53 was £260 (Currently we pay about £285 with Cornhill Direct)

Cheapest so far with son as named driver is £750 going with Tesco value

When I tried Swinton and their 'panel of 50' the lowest for all of us was well over £1000..what a joke!

What is interesting is that I have recently transferred my NCB from my 3.0 Alfa to my Kia Sorento 4x4, but I can still get Comp insurance on the Alfa for £340 with no NCB via a specialist introductory offer..with me and the Mrs as drivers...Thats a car with 210bhp and a top speed close to 150 mph..not that I've ever been there:O .

Sometimes it makes no sense at all

I can't use confused.com as its rude word filter does not allow my real name to be used..silly b*****s. It certainly confused me, so I sent an email and told them what I thought..politely of course.

I have just had some really quite good results on Quote Searcher The UK's Leading Car Insurance Website, so i'd give that a go e.g. £380 comp for my 3.O V6 Alfa with Zero NCB with 1claim and three penalty points..Thats pretty darned good IMHO...

Sorry to hear you couldn't use confused.com. Sounds like Tesco is your best bet.

Hello

The confusion lies with the insurance company in relation to the GLXI and its basically because skoda have a 1.6 also called a GLXI and so confusion reigns.

Now for that 16v engine! well it was never made by any engine manufacturer as I had said on other threads the push rod engine can only have the 8 due to the nature of push rod. however it has been tried and DODGE( I think it was them or GM) did manage something but it was very awkward however they did manage around 7500 RPM and still giving power. The problem lies in the nature of the engine, it has a very large rotation compared to any sOHC or DOHC ENGINE. Therefore variable valve timing would be impossible and as a result fuel consumption will always be higher. but boy do we love our little fellys!. BTW Ford where looking for a small engine for there Ford KA and yea they use a push rod still do, because it is small and sturdy. an 8v or 16v would just be to big.

thanks
