Adrian,

You are joking unless it really does go that much better? I wondered whether you had noticed any reduction in low down torque when pulling away as thats important in every day driving.

Chris

I haven't noticed any loss in low down pull. It does seem to pull better through the gears.

Would say though it's not as noticeable as say my last remap tweek......or may be my expections of the TIP were too great?

Will see how it goes this week in terms of everyday driving.

Thanks for that offer SkodiRS, much appreciated - I am going to try and have another go this weekend I think although I am tossing up the pros and cons of getting the garage to do it anyway cos the car is in for a service this week.

For the sake of buying another Allan key I am going to have another try - I know where all the bits are now so most of it should be much quicker to do. If I get stuck I will let you all know - love you guys and girls!!!

Also - how the hell are people getting that rubber hose out of the old TIP - that thing is really on there!!

Going to have another go this weekend coming.

Woody as Adrain relied, you need to pull at straight angle from the TIP otherwise the o ring binds. If you remove the rubber tube from the MAS then it allows for less resistance in the direction your trying to pull, remember my tip from earlier too, do it when the engine is still warm - especially given the current weather - for the pipes to be that more flexible.

Thats seens to be what I was expected. Jon just said in another thread that the TIP gives 5-10 bhp and LAN only 5; maybe your views are its the other way round. Certainly the ABD LAN gives mine real punch (and matching sound track).

Chris

Have you dynoed it Chris? Horsepower doesn't increase at the same rate as noise :D Those figures were conservative. Plus, get it mapped for the TIP and the increase will be more than with the induction.

Some interesting figures have come out with testing on the CAIs and they ain't what you'd thing, hence my first statement. Anyone with VAG com and a RS with these mods fancy spending a day measuring block 122 whilst changing bits over? :D

That's a shame - otherwise i'd have about 800 geegees by now ;)

Nah....you're just challenged in the hearing department. ;)

Jon,

No, just an observation as those fitting the TIP don't seem that impressed with the feel of it whereas ABD LANs as opposed to other CAIs seem to get more general acclaim. I do agree that your figures are conservative e.g full Milltek exhaust quite a bit more than 10 bhp.

Chris

Chris,

you have to bear in mind that before I fitted the TIP it was "bigged up" so my pre-fitting perception is that it would be "oh my God...this is fast!".

It does make a difference just not as "great" as I thought it would be. Remapping to take it into consideration will probably really see what it's about.

My car is totally different now it has been remapped with the CAI and sports dp/cat taken into consideration.

Torque is very good especially on full boost.......I think that's what you're more aware of with the sport dp/cat.

Yep, ideally the TIP needs remapping, then it really is noticeable, more than the induction kit.

Induction kit does give you more lowdown torque than the standard, it just doesn't hold it as well at higher revs.

  • 1 month later...

Mike at Impossible fitted the ABD TIP to my otherwise standard car this morning. Took him not much more than 20 mins (could probably do it with his eyes shut by now  ) and he charged me a very reasonable
