CTR to VRS

Featured Replies

Hello to all in the group

Just traded in my 18 month old shiny black ctr for a 5 month old shiny black vrs (with skoda dealer upgrade to 215bhp, cruise and parking sensor).

Reason for trade was

(a)1 new addition to family called Rachel :D

(b)ctr is nowhere near as fast as they say :thumbdwn:

©ctr lethal on wet roads despite type of tyres, my wifes toyota yaris is quicker in the wet

(d)collegues laughing at me when it snows cos i cant get ctr out of driveway

(e)people saying they would rather sit on razor blades than my back seats :(

(f)constantly being told to calm down everytime i go above 4000revs

Anyway the short story is that the ctr was great to drive on my own in the dry, absolutely crap the rest of the time

Looking forward to some good times in the vrs :D

 Can't argue with any of that (but why limit yourself to a vRS?)

Welcome to Briskoda

Welcome to the site and congrats on your purchase.

Flyingscot :uglyhamme Geoff. Dense indeed!

I suspected it was a Honda, from the initials, they've had a few cars with similar onces, CRV, and CRX.

Oh and welcome to the forums....

Welcome, acrabat. :D Which upgrade route did the dealer take to get 215bhp and was that power verified on a rolling road?

Sounds like a laptop in a car park to me Denis ;)

Sounds like a fine summary for a no-compromise car - which the CTR indeed is. I would be very interested to have it as a second car!

bro's got a Civic type R and i was going to have one will i drove his.

dont get me wrong i still think its a nice car but not for me.

the gear box is nice, short throws and tight but the gears are too close together, the risk of hitting 3rd instead of 5th is to great for my liking, and the need to rag it to the redline to make it shift isnt appealing to me anymore.

for me the quiet smooth acceleration of the vRS is awesome, it impressed both me and most of the RSC guys on the way down to newquay this weekend. Having a mate in a clio 172 have to drop it to 4th in order to get infront when all i did was throttle a couple of inches made me laugh. the acceleration from 80 to naughty speeds is unbelievable to someone that used to drive a 16v R19...

The dealer told me it was done by re-programming the electronic gubbins via a port somewhere. I didnt think to ask if it had been verified on a rr or not  The salesmen agreed to give me the number of the guy that did the work so i will find out more when i speak to him. I do know that I test drove one with the mod and one without. The modded one certainly felt a lot quicker.

That would be either an APR map or a REVO map.

oh and welcome to the forum
