Stone Chips

Featured Replies

Just bought this weeks Autocar, advert for rhino protect an invisible coating applied to front and sides of car to protect against stone chips and scuffs etc.Quoted price on advert from

I wouldn't bother myself tbh, just get some touch up paint and some polish.

I've done 7k in mine and only have one or two chips.

BTW the rear arches already have a protective strip by the rear doors if I remember correctly.

I think that's just a sign of the times. My Golf and my TT both chipped quite a bit on the front of the bonnet but black is the worst colour for it. My brother had a Mk II GTi 16v on a J plate from new and only sold it last year and the paint on that was practically bullet proof!

Like this - I had it fecking everywhere.

I have a Race Blue VRS and I have covered 15K miles at 'making progress speed' (your Honour) and the paintwork has been very resistant to stone chips (hardly any at all). As good if not better than any other vehicle I have run.

I seem to have more scratches on the wings and bonnet from the ****** neighbour's cat as it climbs up to sit on the bonnet and keep warm.

Anyone know of a polish that disuades cats?

yes, its called ".22", available at most gunshops. :D

Our cat waits until I've washed the cars then when I'm inside walks her muddy paws all over them just to get at me. Another reason I hate washing cars. I would'nt take issue with the cat though - it kills and eats rabbits everyday and you never know what it will do to my car in revenge :D

Can't you get lion dung pellets these days to do the job?

Sprinkle them around the area where you keep your car and hopefully the cat will stay away...

Martin.
