dogbone engine mount

Featured Replies

Please help, when fitting the bushes in the dogbone mount is there a bolt which holds it all together? I'm guessing there is but dont know what torque to tighten it up to. In my haynes it mentions removing the mount but not stripping it! Also has anyone who has fitted powerflex bushes in this mount reused the old subframe/transmission mounting bolts? Haynes state they should be replaced with new.

I know this is a really easy job but if anyone has a picture guide it would be much appreciated.

That's what it looks like -

Forge Motorsport

yeah I've reused mine, they aren't very tight anyway, and hardly in a critical overstressed position anyway..

The centre bolt is a bit of a nob to get started, you need to compress the bush slightly to get it started. Otherwise it's a 15 minute job.

Thanks guys, thats exactly what I needed to know. I guess other members on here who have suffered excesive vibration have overtightened the bolt holding the assembly together. I now have to buy a torque wrench which measures as low as 12 lb ft as mine are rather industrial

i've just ordered the forge one after reading that guide

The centre bolt tightens the back retainer against the tube up the middle anyway, and compresses the bush a preset amount irrespective how tight you do it up.

Does it matter which brand you get? I.e is some better than others, just after fitting my cat bypass it smacks the steering rack now and again which get annoying after a few times whilst sending it on!

consensus is that the Powerflex one (same as Forge) is a good compromise of engine location v. increased vibration..

My downpipe was hitting badly, powerflex bush sorted it out completely. AwesomeGti was the best delivered deal at the time for me.

Well its payday 2moro so when I finish work I will ring Awesome and order some. I assume thats the best place to get them from.

Also do awesome give discount for being registered with Briskoda or do you need to subscribe to freedom??
