You shouldn't really "need" anything to fit either of them, other than a facia adaptor "bit" from Skoda: Part Number: 6YO 857 231 B41 Mine was £2.49 from my dealer.

You don't need an "Autoleads" type adaptor as Skoda is already ISO connectors and will plug straight into the connectors that you get with the stereo. You will probably need to swap the permanent and switched lives over, but my head unit had bullet connectors pre-fitted to these, so swapping was no problem at all.

You may struggle to fit all the wires and stuff in behind the head unit. I actually cut out a little bit of plastic from behind the stereo position and I think this made it much easier......I don't seem to have struggled as much as a few seem to have.....reading their reports!!

One thing that a lot of people seem to go for is an aerial amplifier, so I got one too....not sure if it is really required, but for the price, I just got one anyway.

The part: Autoleads PC5-52 VAG Group 'Bee-Sting' Aerial Interface £10.40 including VAT. PC552. Buy discounted car audio online at In-Car Express

I installed an Alpine CDA-9856R and had no real problems. The dimmer didn't seem to operate correctly though, so I disconnected that wire. It was flickering rather than dimming the display.

I'm just waiting for my Stealth Shelf and I'll be done. :)

Oh yeah.......I'd go for the Alpine unit, but that's just my personal preference!

many thank's for that marty

Funkmonkey, if you have an Octy you shouldn't need the fascia bit from skoda, the Octy has a double DIN space for the stereo, half of which is taken up by the cubby hole so single DIN fits fine.

You might find it easier to remove the cubby hole during fitting, some people remove the glovebox too to help pull the wiring through.

Aaaaah...of course....I was talking about the Fabia. :D

I did remove the glovebox, but to be honest the only difference it made was when I came to pull the leads across the footwell for the rear-mounted amp....it gave a bit more room.
