RS shedding wheel-nut covers

Featured Replies

While in the care of my brother-in-law, my RS has apparently shed 4 of those grey plastic covers over the wheels-nuts. 3 from 1 wheel alone.

Is anyone else's RS doing this?

Can we claim replacements under warranty?

Are we best just removing all the covers?

Thanks guys.

4 weeks till the end of Nissan Altima hell and back to Skoda Octavia RS heaven.

Not lost any of mine in 2 years, they are cheap though.

I would keep them on if only to stop the wheel nut rusting.

Bet you cant wait to get back to the UK to drive your RS again.

Cheers,

Hopefully it'll be fine till I get back.

I miss the whir of the turbo, the smell of the leather and getting to change my own gears.

Hopefully making a nice long drive down to England when I get back, to buy Tobmob's 17" alloys (including some wheel-nut covers :) ).

 They'll come with 20 of them!

One on mine lost, suspect it was not pushed fully home.

I suggest the remaining ones on your vehicle are checked that they are pushed fully home , once they are fitted correctly the tweezer tool is normally required to get them off.

Ensure that the locking one is put on the correct bolt as it is bigger diameter.

The grey ones do come in a complete set, the same ones available singly as used on SLX models

Tweezer tool, what tweezer tool :?

At "Drivers Door" turn left at the "Bumper" turn right at "Number Plate" turn right you have now arrived at "Hatch", it should be closed but can be visited at anytime of the year during opening hours. When in "Hatch" at "Boot Floor" you will see "Carpet". At "Lower Carpet" is "Polystrene Tool Kit Holder" you have now reached your destination "Tweezer Tool" in one of the small alleyways.

If you need futher help let me know

You must be cold standing outside the closed destination, I suggest you go somewhere warm.

Go to "Inside Car and take the short cut to "Tweezer Tool" via "Lowering Seat" and "Lifting Boot Floor" hope this helps. Or did you find what you were looking for at "Glove Box"?

Heres a photo I took when I last visited "

Freakcrab,

If you havn't taken caps off yourself maybe your dealer will give you a set for free, but as Manny said they are not very expensive. I think they couldn't have been pushed fully home especially as it was one wheel that lost 3 covers, or maybe its the centrifugal force from the high speeds that the car is experiencing at the moment mine were ok at 130mph. (in Germany)

I wouldn't suggest leaving the caps off .

Hope the 17" work out OK what you going to do with the 16"? maybe a Fabia owner would be interested I know my sons interested in getting a set of 17" or 16" sometime for his Fabia?

Well the brother-in-law could be having some fun before he has to go back to his Polo 1.4 :x

I'll get him to go into the dealer and try and get some replacements, if it's under warrenty then great, if not then it's only a small increase to his expenses for running an RS for three months (currently only the cost of Optimax).

I thought I'd probably post up the old 16s on the "for sale and wanted" forum, when I got the 17s on. But if anyone wants to enquire about them now then feel free.

If Fabias used a 5 stud wheel then I would think the 16s would fit quite well. The 205/55 Toyos, however, would be no use at all.

I wondered what that "tweezer tool" was for ?

Jon,

Found the Tweezer Tool, Yippy!!! :mexwave:

Had a play this morning wicked peace of kit. I've been using a pair of long-nose pliers, DOH!

Cheers mate :thumb:

I thought I recognised that red rs which I have seen flying around Edinburgh...... :D <ducks the flying wheel nut covers......>

Last thing I did in the car before I left was to reset the second memory in the trip computer.

Brother-in-law has no idea.

I apologise to anyone in the Edinburgh area for any injuries caused by flying parts of my car.
