I quite like it.

It looks like it was designed with an estate in mind from the start rather than the bodge that was the Mk4 estate.

The back view looks a little odd but from the side it's very nice and quite like the A3 sportback

But with the MK6 just around the corner, whats the point?

because they can?!

How just around the corner is the MK VI?

I know time passes more quickly in my advancing years and my always poor memory is worse than ever, but have we even had a facelift in the V yet?

I thought it was going to be a Jetta estate. Though sure enough it says Golf on the hatch...

Because the estates allways run behind on the Golf, the Mk4 Estate has only just finished.

i dont think they are facelifting it. i think they are changing quicker because the mk5 is expensive to build so are changing manufacturing .

i may be wrong tho:)

I don't like that back end at all . . compared to the Passat's tidy estate version, the Golf is a poor show IMO. :thumbdwn:

Thats what I was told also. And that the Mk6 Golf will not share its platform directly with any other non VW VAG vehicle.

Well blow me down!

I guess this is down to VAG becoming sick of Seats and Skodas cannibalising VW sales...?

I'd buy that for a dollar.

But I do like the ickle spoiler...

When's the mk VI due then?

Edit: That Estate, it just looks wrong... don't know why it just does

Back end = Honda.......or maybe a Kia......or maybe a Hyundai.........:thumbdwn:

I was thinking Kia Rio myself.

I seem to recall auto express saying the estate would be on the mk VI set up from launch.

And heated side windows.....

ohh, I dunno... I think I could prefer the back end of that Golf, and I've got a Passat estate

It's very Passat like from the side apart from the smaller rear windows.

The Golf estate all ways has been, and all ways will be one of those really stupid and pointless cars that nobody needs.

If the new one follows tradition then it will cost nearly as much as a Passat Estate,

I Thought that the Golf Plus (Another Pointless car) would have stopped them doing another estate,

Volkswagen - The Peoples Pointless Car

I take it that you will not be buying one then :)

I like the look of that and would buy one if they put the 2.0Tfsi engine into it with 4motion. But hang on, Don't a certain Czech manufacturer make a cheaper, bigger, more versatile estate that looks just as good? Hmmm

P.S. Golf MK VI is scheduled for back end of 2009 / early 2010. As said Mk V too expensive, too complicated and takes too long to manufacture.
