Autoglym protection - good or bad?

Featured Replies

Just ordered the ltd ed vRS. The salesman was keen for me to buy Autoglym to protect the paintwork but the leaflet says cover is guaranteed for just 3 years & paintwork is covered by the Skoda gtee anyway. I said no but have the option to change my mind until the car is delivered. What do you guys/gals think? Is it worth the extra

they always try to sell this on one garage offered me "supaguard" for

Thanks Woodsy. The ltd ed has leather so I'd only get the benefit of the paintwork being treated. Doesn't sound as if it's worth the money to me. Is anyone a fan of this treatment?

There is some more discussion on this sort of treatment here. The general opinion seems to be that it is overpriced, so as mentioned either negotiate hard or get a kit off Ebay and Do It Yourself.

They also dis the inside, which may be worth it on the cream/light seats.

I believe the vRS Ltd Edition comes with leather anyway, so not as much of an issue.

Edit: Johnnyf beat me to it with the comment about leather!

I've decided to go for it as they mentioned it covers any scruffs marks left on the leather.

Worth pushing them on price if you haven't done the deal already!

If there are scuff marks on the leather then they should be fixed by dealer before you take delivery:eek:

I had the autoglym FOC and only really accepted it due to the seat treatment tbh, its was not bad but it only lasts if you keep topping it up ie washing and waxing:rofl:  If I was getting a new car might consider getting the anal bloke that does the Buggattis etc to give it his new car prep and paint correction, its about

I've got the DiamondBright treatment on my (red) VRS and it's excellent. It was applied a year ago and keeps the car looking great. I'd say the treatment is worth it on flat paints - don't bother if metalic.

Diamond bright was done on my car and got to admit it's great. Use the preserver afer every couple of washes also. Had the car a year and look new after a wash. Keeps it's shine for a long time. not worth doing it from delaer, do it yourself and save

Mine diamond brted too, had it for 16 months (not from new) but it looks great washes dead easy and always looks like new when done, compared to wifes lguna (not done) the ease of washing is so noticable and seems to keep clean longer. However as mine is the burnt orange colour(stop laughing) it may always look shiny. never regretted getting it done tho

Oh yea was

If its brand new as was my Furby a few years back when I had one, why not just use Autoglym products from day one. Keeps your car mint for ages. Super Resin wax is only

I always say no, because I like polishing my cars.

All Autoglym products, although cheap are VERY underrated.

I've used them on most of my cars for the last 20 years, and rate them highly, although I wouldn't pay for any dealer related car-care products.

I prefer to do them by hand, that way you get to know your car better.

That may sound sad, but I am sure you know what I mean:O

I dont think its worth it either. I use Swissol and Meguires products. Much better value.

You can get the lifeshine from eBay for around

I agree totally Autoglym and some elbow grease works a treat everytime.:D

Plastic conditioner is excellent for any exterior black plastic trim.

I had it applied inside and out for

do it yourself autoglym is great:thumbup:

Have a look on detailing world to see what people think about Diamondbright Supaguard.

Your better off going with Autoglym stuff or if you want to splash you can go with go with Zymol stuff etc

I don't really rate any of the "Long-Life" sealants. Yes, its certainly better than nothing, but in my opinion, it isnt worth

I still can't quite get over the mark-up on these products, even when the labour charge for applying them is factored in

As has been said, the products are available for
