Programming/ re-programming the "lane change" function on the Indicators

Featured Replies

Is it possible to change the number of flashes that the indicators make when the indicator stalk is nudged?

Currently three flashes I believe but could you change it to four or five for example.

I seem to remember being able to do this in a hire car from another manufacturer (vauxhall possibly). Long boring journies and lots of time to play!

I think Im right in saying that the lane change option can be turned off!?!

Cheers

Hope so.

The 3 flashes thing is SO annoying. I'd like to disable it altogether.

And the system completely refuses to wipe the spittle from my ageing, jabbering chops. I may as well stay home and let the car drive itself over a cliff. If only it were that smart.

I think the number of flashes can be set anywhere from 0 to 5.

Certainly can be on the Fabia, not investigated the Octy yet.

I'd actually like it to indicate for longer

I find the feature really nice.... but frustrating when you drive a car without it.

Time to get the VAG com back on and search through Wiki !

I find three flashes is just about right. If you want to flash the indicators for 1 or 2 flashes, then just move the stick completely on rather than nudge it, then completely off. Doing this it will only flash for as long as the indicator stalk is in the on position.

Ok that's good; but any idea how?

I learnt a while back, from an advanced driving instructor, that indicators should be 'on' for at least 4 seconds for other road users to see and react to them. 5 flashes would just about be the minimum number you need.

It is certainly a useful feature, ideal for lane changing on the M-way etc, and I feel that 2 - 3 flashes is not enough.

Hmmmmm, me thinks I want four 'winks' :D

I don't mind it as a feature, but I just don't want to use it.

I am really sick of all the feature adjustability you need a VAGCOM to alter.

Why not just have an extended setup mode for the various features, accesible through the radio display? It's essentially a GUI already, and has a CANBUS i/f. You'd think it's just software.

Maybe I should get a BMW, since it appears that indicators are not fitted as standard anyway. And I like the special BMW windscreens. You know, the ones with the little stickers that says "In real life, the objects in front of you are much closer than you think".

Did you see if it can be turned off through maxi Dot....press & hold lower part of wiper rocker switch (the one to cycle through MPG etc). I can't recall if that was in it, you can set up the Hyjack locking etc but only on the 2007 Models IIRC

The simple fact is Steve that you don't need VAG-COM to alter them as really you aren't supposed to alter them - the fact that we can is a bonus.
