government road taxing - again!

Featured Replies

What a joke.

Now they are saying residential streets should be charged at the same rate as the nearby congested motorway!

Where do the other parties stand on this? I've not heard any mention of opposition to it by Lib Dems or Tories, but that doesn't mean there isn't any!

Chris

This is nonsense.

Satellite tracking will still have to be used or how can mileage and zone changes be known ?

This scheme will penalise those who do not presently contribute to particular congested roads, in fact they will be encouraged to join in the congestion since it will cost them no more!

This scheme will do nothing to reduce existing Rat running.

We may be sure that any reduction in fuel duty or road tax will be very temporary.

Since it is now admitted that the whole county will now be covered by the four zones then we can be sure that all - yes - all motorists will pay no matter where they are. Rural motorists were misled by the previous scheme into thinking they would pay nothing.

Yes friends its another stealth tax - easy money! easy money! easy money!

The lib dems are in favour.

Conservatives are staying quiet as it's their main chance to be elected if they come out against

Having re-read the article I notice there is no mention of time ,the road I travel to work on is congested 0730-0930 and 1600-1830 but very quiet at other times ,so if it is in a fixed congestion zone there is no incentive to travel at a quieter time at all ( I could work flexible hours if neccesary) .Also it is congested in one direction in the morning and the other in the evening .But as one of the first comments said it is just a way of increasing the amount of tax and controlling the population
