I often find I haven't given the bleeper TWO firm enough pushes - only the driver's door opens then.

Oh yes, that is annoying too! That regularly happens with me but the boot release

does still seem to stick even when when i have pressed the remote button twice!

It's a known isssue and subject of a TSB. Take it to the dealers for adjustment.

The pushes of the button to unlock all doors is called selective unlocking and is a feature which can be turned off.

It was like that on mine, sometimes. I'm talking about using middle button on remote. Boot would pop up but not get release sometimes. I've solved it by turning (unscrewing) those two rubbers used to make the distance between the boot door and car body. Problem is gone. Boot closing now needs a bit more force, just like on other cars but it always release properly. If you don't know what rubbers I'm talking about, open the boot and look at the boot door's lock. Now move left or right following the same line untill you reach the corner of the door. Somewhere there, by the corner you'll see round rubber. If you turn it like you're going to unscrew it, you'll see it is comming out. Don't go to much, not even full 360 degrees. Do it on both corners and see if boot closes properly. If you find out that boot closes (locks) too easily, unscrew a bit more, just to find a proper position where it closes by using minimum force. When done, leave it like that for few days and see if boot now release nicely on every day's use. If not, do further adjustment. We have to know that guys in factory can't adjust it properly because they do it and check it on the spot. If OK, car goes away. Our problem is that afterwards it "sometimes" doesn't release properly. So, we have to adjust it by ourselves.

Hope this helps, solved it on mine.

It's actually the catch that needs adjusting.

Do you mean the lock on the door or the catch down on the main body?

You got that TSB Stu?

I was charged for that adjustment in that bill I got as a non warrenty item. It fixed it for about a week too :(

It's the Striker plate on the body that has to be moved.

I have seen it Mark.

How can I turn it off??

How can I turn it off??

VAG COM or dealer diagnostics.

I had it done on mine, works perfect now but theres more force required to close it now (I used to drop it from about 3/4 way up but now needs a little slam).
