Dear Andy Pandy,

You have been a member for 18 months, and made 52 posts.Possibly 51 of them being helpful in a technical way, and at least one of them being akin to a sulk.

As far as I know you can edit which forums you subscribe to, and if you can't bear for anyone else to have fun, don't read the posts that offend you.

I am glad you are an older Fabia driver, because that makes you almost a brother to me.

But unfortunately, like my brother you appear to be a pompous *****.

Although you may be really lovely and good looking and rich.

If this offends you, join Freedom for £12 quid, and then we can be on a par and have equal mutual disrespect for each other.

Please don't take any offence at this post, because I don't really exist, and I love you really.

HTH.

 was going to say something like that myself.

It's all done in the best possible taste!!! (Cunning Stunt aka Kenny Everett quote)

Don't you mean "Cupid Stunt"

I'm a member of several car forums- all related to VAG cars I own or have owned, and there's lots on all I'm not interested in, but it's easy to ignore. All of them, briskoda included, are an invaluable resource, and I try to contribute with help where I can (how to fix Audi A3 windows for about 5 quid, for example). I'm not interested in ultimate modding or a big ICE install either, so I just ignore those posts. Easy.

Briskoda = "Brisk Skoda" enough said. :P

All i have to say is think yourself lucky you have a forum like this!!!!!!!

Before Briskoda i was a member on uk-polos.net which has a very similar style and friendly attitude In fact i'm still a member on there and put the odd post on from time to time...... The time and money i saved when going to the dealers with something wrong with the polo is something i wouldn't want to be without.......

Then moving onto Briskoda....... I have never been afraid of asking a question on this forum however stupid i thought it might be / sound.

On the other hand my better half has a Civic Type-R and we are members on two forums both of which seem to be filled with people who think they are a cut above the rest because of the car they drive. To be honest i only posted a few posts and only a couple of questions as the responses that came back made you feel an inch high!!!!!

If you are only wanting to ask techy questions or help others with techy questions then pay £12 and become a Freedom member with access to the 'Ask a Tech' section...... Hey you'll even get a Briskoda sticker for your car!!! along with discounts at various motoring related companies. And you'll be helping the running of the site.

As others have said if you aren't interested in a certain topic don't read it....... You don't have to open the post to know what it's about.... The title may not always give much away but the 'Mouse over topic title' method gives you more of an idea.

All in all i feel there is a happy balance within these forums some techy questions, some modding questions, some newby questions and some 'has anybody had this before..... ever!!!' questions..... I have no interest at all with a lot of the posts on the forum and strangely enough don't bother reading them!!!!!

Sorry for rambling on but this is one i feel strongly on having experienced the kind of atmosphere that some other motoring forums seem to have.

Cheers

Dave.

I like the site. Its extremely comprehensive and covers most bases out there. As to be expected by having a large membership, you will get all kinds of people on the site, young and old, with differing tastes. It is diverse and diversity is important in society. Its impossible to please everyone but I think that by having such a mix of people on the site, you get differing opinions and perspectives from which you may not have considered otherwise.

So what if people like modifying their car? So what if they want to keep it standard? Its not really our place to judge. I'd like to think that on the whole, the site is free from overly judgemental comments, I've only come across one personally from TaviaRS where I was mis-judged. Let people be enthusiastic about the things that they enjoy and ignore the parts that don't coincide with your views.

In conclusion, post where you want to contribute and don't in the threads you disagree with. I don't think the site needs re-working, I think its great as it is.

Frost out.

Some valid points raised...

Now please note it's all about the community.

Fabia section actually makes up 2.45% of top content in Feb, the stats stuff is hard to relay as it reset in Feb, but I'm looking at traffic, where it goes and how to improve the popular areas.

In terms of top content, the fabia section is almost twice as busy as it's nearest model section, so it will be getting some attention.

I dont like the site, I think it smells of poo.

But I do like that Mr Grumpy, he makes me smile.

Why don't you just swap your Fabia for an Octy.

We're all far more mature and never go on about amplifiers or driving fast.;)

Just mad enough to go roundin circles with passengers :)

How thee be Smiffy?

How thee by Smiffy?

We're fine mate.:D

I remember it well. I've got a picture of that little spin some where. I'll dig it out.

Andypandy has gone very quiet since posting his views

He averages 0.10 posts per day. Your're expecting instant relpies?

FWIW IMO his points are valid but I tend just to sift through the boy racers sh!te and the analy retentive nonsense (of which there seems to be more and more of.)

As with all forums this one is cliquey. Probably coming across more so due to the small number of members and again as with most forums people with high post counts tend to think their point of view counts for more. This could come across as intimidating to some. Goes against the community spirit these types of places are built upon.

If he hasn't replied yet perhaps he's busy and has something better to do  or indeed can't be ar$ed having his posts belittled by those with an over inflated feeling of self-importance.

Lets not feel too bad about it though, it's a true reflection of society nowadays. :(

Thank You very much PG. I did think of answering all the sensible well mannered posts, but you have put my views across perfectly. Excellent Forum ,spoilt by arseholes. As to joining 'Freedom' it did cross my mind ,until I read the reply to my post from a Freedom member, which put me off. Thank God there are people like Lummox and others ,who make the Site worth visiting.

Your doing the same thing, belittling other peoples opinions.

I'm quite comfortable choosing what I want to read out of the general mass of posts.

Somewhere between "Major Angry (retired), of Ashford" and "DJ Kewl, of Canvey"....

As long as the forum is well moderated, the odd post expressing either extreme doesn't bother me.

Touché........Oh, but wait....

Round and round we go.

Don't mention it but I haven't got my shiney armor on I can assure you. I just say what I see.

 I have to say Briskoda aint a bad forum.

I try to help when I can and have got pelnty of info off of members on here (another vote for lummox etc)

Yes there may be posts that do not interest/involve you, but if everyone liked the same thing then we'd all be driving the same car, doing the same job and eating the same food.

life is better spicey, and To be honest, preconceptions you may form of an individual based on forum posts is not a true reflection.

People who modify cars can often come up with a more effetive way of doing a process than the manufacturer, possibly providing a solution to issues you may experience on your standard car.

I appreciate the effort you put into helping others with eletrical problems- a worthwhile model to follow:)

I thought it was quite an interesting discusssion going on until you started going on about belittling other people. It appears to me that the people who don't share the opinion of Andy Pandy (and from where I'm standing, yourself) are far more vocal than those who do so you resort to quite frankly a cheap shot by saying they are belittling him. If there were more people with the same opinion as Andypandy who replied in this post I'm sure the word belittled wouldn't have been mentioned.....

Ahh the joys of keyboard warriors.

give it a rest.

People are different........nuff said.;)

There is this lovely ICE section that posts about how many subs can i fit in the boot of X can always be moved into.

I guess you could add model sections to that area too who knows?

I am sure the Mods are doing their best

I presume ( reading between the lines ) that it is me that is having 'the finger' wagged at.

I don't set out to belittle anyone, in fact I appreciate technical information as much as the next hamfisted man, and have great respect for people that take time and effort to spread their knowledge to us with little or no mechanical knowhow.

But I don't like being told what opinions I must have, and I refuse to kowtow to anyone who thinks he is mentally superior to me because he doesn't appreciate irony and sarcasm.

Thank you for your technical help, but the next time you are passing a garage, ask them to recharge your SOH cannister, because it has emptied.

In my experience very true. Let's just read the threads we're interested in, ignore the ones we're not interested in and get along.

Briskoda is without a doubt the friendliest forum I've come across, and it would be a shame if it was spoiled by grudges and in-fighting. I've met a few of the people on here and that mental image you form is often so far wrong it's unbelievable. I reckon most people on here would get along face to face.

Let's not forget a humorous or innocent comment can lose all it's meaning and tone when it's just expressionless text staring out from a screen, and can on occasions upset or aggravate. That's not to say the person who wrote it set out to have that effect or even thought it in the way that the reader read it.

In short, let's all get along

Yep, couldn't have said that better. I must re-itterate Briskoda is a very friendly 'live and let live' forum compared to other forums ive been a member of (some BMW come to mind).
