fabia vrs remap advice

Featured Replies

HI all

1st post so be gentle.I have just bought a fabia vrs with 43000 miles

and am wondering if it is ok to remap with this many miles?

If so whats best value for money .thanks Graham

they have happy results remapping this engine at 90k ;)

One member on here has run a remap for about 70k with no problems... others however have had blown turbos....

biggest worry may be the clutch, go for a re-map with power, but limited torque, the clutches can slip......... if you have this problem , just don't boot it from below 3k :)

edit: if you go for a cheap remap, it will be a standard thing, pay more and go for a custom map, and you can state to the tuner what you want....

I know someone who ran a cheap resister mod (about 150 bhp) for 50k, and the only problem he had was a leaking egr valve, which was replaced under warranty... and the resistor mod is a very basic over fuelling device....

another member is running about 230 bhp on this engine with similar mileage to yours and he hasn't killed his yet ;)

edit: welcome to briskoda!

I am going to buy a plug in box for mine. I like the fact that it can be taken off easily whenever you want.

I have been looking at dragon tuning as a few people on here seem to have used them, but has anyone bought 1 from | Diesel Tuning UK | Increased Diesel Performance | Digital Diesel Chips | ?

They are around the same price but I wouldn't want to be the skoda guinea pig with them!

AmI right in assuming that this ebay shop (dragon tuning) is the same as www.mrhoot.com?

eBay.co.uk Shop - Dragon Performance U.K Limited: Skoda: Skoda 1.4 1.9 PD 2.0 PD 2.5 V6 Tdi EXTRA POWER

GO for it!! :D

I have a brand new box from tdi-tuning.co.uk i'm wanting rid of if anybody was interested in it.

just make sure that its not been done before.booked mine in,waited four weeks drove 160 miles, only to be told that they had done it before.

its no problem on the pd engine, you have to be careful with the mapping not to get too much torque at low RPM else the clutch does take a beating!

also the fabia does have a weaker turbo fitted than is fitted on some other VAG 130's so you have to be careful with the boost level too.

We have seen up to 1.95 bar boost on the standard turbo on some cars we have had in, so its no wonder they blow!

We see 170-175 bhp on an otherwise standard car, we do recomend a panel filter and PD160 air intake too.

Choosing a remap is something you need to take time over. Many people can knock out a cheap remap but is it completely right for your car. Some will turn the boost up a little and you'll feel lots of power but then the turbo may fail.

It is often very much a case of paying your money and taking your chances, buy cheaply and pay in the long run.

Try to buy from someone working from a trade premises and that is VAT registered - At least that way you know they've got an interest in their business and may be there tomorrow when you have a question to answer.

too right, there is loads of people setting up, who seem to be bed room traders!!

We have a 2000 sq-ft unit and you can come and see if you have any questions or any thing.

I've had an amd one-click for about 18 months now, (generic map), with the panel filter and pd 160 air intake.

Very good if you feel the need to switch it off for a service, I did it a few times then didn't bother.

Any way the one-click, panel filter and air intake are all coming off shortly as the car is a company one and it has to go back.

I would definitely recommend a remap though!!!!!

Go for it!!

I would recommend angeltuning.com

I ran mine in for 6000 miles, then they remapped it.

Now with 27000 miles and it still makes me smile. MPG went up on motorway journeys too!!
