Aux I-Pod Link

Featured Replies

When I bought my vRS last month it didn't have factory fitted Sat nav, So the dealer offered to retro fit the unit before I took delivery of the car to finalise the sale.

Last week I finally got a lead to plug in my I-Pod and could not hear anything through the head unit. My wife popped the car into the Skoda dealers yesterday and they have said the Aux imput will not work with this head unit. They saidt the only way I can get it to work is by disconnecting the CD player multishuffle.

Surely this is bull***t as the same unit is fitted at the factory and they can still plug in there I-pods into the Aux socket?

Can anyone shed any light on this?

The new(ish) Dension Gateway 400 gives you a switch to change between CD changer and ipod. You can also plug up a 3,5mm line feed and a USB flash drive via a USB2 port. I

The sat nav unit has an aux input on the back.

It would be possible to wire a SatNav Systems back to the aux input.

I tried it with a Belkin Auto lead thingy, with a built in amp and 3.5mm jack socket but it picked up the engine and sounded poor.

Wouldn't it be possible to put that unit on Satnavsystems between the MFD2 and the original jumbo box aux cable? There must be a cable leading from the jumbo box to the back of the MFD2. Would make for a much neater solution.

Dave.

That cable connects to the media connector of the MFD2. I suppose you could splice it into the wiring for the OEM socket.

I think that's exactly what I'm going to try, I'll let you know how I get on.

Chock Blocs - That's a bit upmarket, I thought you just wound the strands together.

I did a live Radio 2 sports prog with the output of my sound desk connected to the music line with twisted cables!!!! Shhhh, don

Just to clarify then - I have ordered my VRS with Sat Nav (factory fit). Will the aux socket in the jumbo box be disabled then? I wasn't told that at the time of ordering?

Would be interested to know if they have overcome the problem but based on the knowledge we currently have the I don't think it will work.

It really depends on if they've modified the wiring to suit.

It would be a pretty poor show if a factory fitted MFD2 didn't have a working (but installed) AUX input in the jumbo!

Before I order my Gateway 400, I thought about using the Aux input to the MFD2 and just not using the video input, but I preferred the idea of having a changeover switch for the CD Changer + having the option to be able to play straight of a flashcard (I believe it supports several popular formats). Plus gong this route means I cans till use the Head unit /M.F. Steering Wheel controls to play tracks and playlists.

I agree, but this thread got me a little worried! Anyone able to confirm that the aux socket in the jumbo box works with a factory fit sat nav?

Anyone any ideas. I would be a little miffed if a factory fitted Sat nav would mean foregoing the aux input in the jumbo box, but you never know!
