Was wondering this the other day, after I got some snippet of information from the dealers that it is not likely to be the 1.9 tdi one.

1.4 t/c s/c 170bhp? 2.0 n/a 150bhp? 2.0 PD140? 2.0 tsfi (yes please)? 1.8T?

Can't think of anymore possible engines, so what do people think?

I think its pretty safe to say that it wont be the 2.0TFSI or the 1.4 super-turbo. More likely the new 1.8T as per the Polo GTi.

I reckon 1.8 Tfsi, and the 140 pd as you say. Is it the same as the current polo? The floor that is?

I think its important to point out it wont be the 20VT 1.8 like in the Octy vRS et al, but the new 1.8TFSI which will sort of be replacing the 2.0FSI.

I heard that they are putting a Veyron engine in as an interim warm version until they release the 2.0

I also heard that the replacement 2.0 when it arrives will be called the Fabia Monarch and it will sit above the vRS

The garden part is actually true.

The problem is if you get taken by Prince Charles, then move on, you may end up in a Paris tunnel. :eek:

They won'y put in the 1.9 any more because of the emissions regulations that will come in later on during the new cars life. The lesser power 1.9 is ok but not the higher power ones.

The PD engines are being phased out next year anyway so there will be common rail on tap.

I really hope we get the 170 2.0 in it, now that would be fun, but I think in reality Skoda won't be that ambitious.

Regarding the TSi, it would be a possibility, the all new Polo will follow the Fabia, as they will have the same chassis etc so why not the same engines?

It wouldn't supprise me though if the board of VW had a say, after all it was VW that requested Skoda try the all Diesel vRS as an initial trial of a Diesel hot hatch.
