I'd not seen this before as I missed the episode, but surely this proves that the Stig is an F1 driver ? Narrows things down a little.

I thought that the regular Stig uses a different line around the track to the F1 drivers they have had on the show.

Also I believe that the idea behind the stig is that it can be anyone. So when testing an F1 car is it probably the teams test driver rather than the usual Stig.

This protects the BBC from complaints that they damage peoples private cars when 'testing'.

They have used different drivers for one-offs that the regular stig wouldn't be allowed to drive.

The F1 car was one of them , as was some of the stuff with snowmobiles

BMW williams are running an F1 car round the Nurburgring (first time an F1 car has been on track in 30 yrs) next month - should be interesting.

It was a differnt stig in the F1 one

Not my fault I was too tall and too much of a bloater to fit :(

i sure there was an article in EVO last year with a BMW F1 driver in one of the Ring taxis , so i don't think knowledge will be a problem

would be good to see it , in-car video would be excellent
