Rapid Sport for sale on eBay

Featured Replies

Nice car..Off topic but. See the question from the other member with a web addy. This addy goes to somewhere dodgy so the seller puts his details in then obviously his account is compromised. Well done that seller for spotting the scam. Bet anyone else would have fallen for it.

i want one!!!!

If it was last out of the factory how come i converted a 'G' reg one for grass racing???:finger:

G reg sport died to make a grass tracker - ouch.

My friend has a "M" Reg estelle which wasnt last of the factory floor despite having a plate that was from the beginning of the felicia era. I dont know at what point SK distributors stopped building the sports, certainly never did a favorit one and the favorits came out on the F plate.

A G plate sport Might have been a dealer showroom car that was registered a year or so later probably sold off to make way for the "new" favorits Ive seen Rapids in general on plates as late as J, all late registrations of cars built well before then.

I would always be dubious about "last of the line" claims unless there was paperwork to back it up, but the existance of a car with a later plate doesnt mean the car was built later. Plates refer to when the car was first registered not when it was first built.

Same thing happens with tax exempt vehicles particularly VW beetles theres many beetles out there with plates from way after the tax exemption time which were actually built pre 71 and so get the free road tax as long as the owner can prove the build date was before the cut off point.

My last favorit was on a N plate theres felicias around on M plates. My car clearly wasnt built after Felicias went into production but the car wasnt regisetered until some time after felicias had started being registered. Older cars can have newer plates.

Its not as bad as it sounds, the car I built as a 'grasser' was actually bought as a write off having had a a rear offside shunt, it was less than 2 years old with less than 5000 miles on the clock, shell was slightly teaked (didnt matter for a grasser), and chassis leg bent vertically down which was easy to straighten, add replacement rearwing section and back panel and it was ready for its new life:thumbup:

better played with than crushed I guess :D, these days though every gearbox out there needs to be saved :( those things go and spares arent out there anymore :(. I scrapped a normal rapid completely unnecesarily back in the days when they were still common. Head gasket went, and the job was worth more than the car... shame it was a rust free shell, but back then it was just a cheap car and not at all rare :(.
