Some sexy VNT turbo pics to drool over..........

Featured Replies

All this esoteric talk over VNT17's VNT20 hybrids, VT5, etc.

Just thought I'd put up a little eye candy instead!

As everyone knows:

a VNT17 is the OEM turbo,

a VNT20 Hybrid has the turbine, housing and manifold of a VNT17 with the compressor of a VNT20 (straight fit-on)

and a VNT20 is all VNT20,(used on 2.5l TDI's etc). Needs a bespoke manifold. Whew!

Here's a pic of a VNT17 side by side with a VNT20 turbo. No prizes for guessing which is which!

And here is how a VNT20 non-hybrid turbo is fitted to a 1.9PD using a bespoke manifold made by cutting the OEM manifold from the OEM turbo and welding on a mating flange that is bolted to the turbo. Note the custom oil lines as well:

Kinda neat huh?

Hehe - sure is ;)

Well my Stage 2 hybrid from TD is on my engine, done a deal with someone here to swap a fairly new OEM turbo against my Stage 1 hybrid in the near future (handy to have a spare ;)) - should mean that person can enjoy a decent 200ish bhp without too much grief :D
