Bye Bye Fabia Hello Golf

Featured Replies

Well after 8 months of hard work my golf is now back on the road

Sorry to see the fabia go to the dealers but after only covering 1200 miles in 7 months i wanted rid.

The golf in question as i got it in july as a non runner since 1999 for

Looking good

A testament to your hard work, top job.

Now sell it to me ;)

That looks ace, In the 4th photo is the tyre on the o/s/f the right way round, looks like a Michelin pilot sport....Maybe I'm wrong!

very nice, do you fancy having a play with my mazda?

and no thats not some strange sort of sexual advance.

Take the 'bra' off, and it's a lovely looking thing.

( that's a compliment btw )

Looks great, loving the Ronals

I'm not a fan of the 'bra', but there you go :)

What are you running under the bonnet?

Bodyshop put the wheels on the wrong sides after they sprayed it. Hat to put it on axle stands and take the wheels off to spray it under the arch's. Was going to change them over tonight but car is covered in a inch of snow.

Lot harder to drive than the fabia due to no power steering, wide wheels and a go-kart size steering wheel but you get used to it. Got to start going round pot holes now or loose my teeth.

Bra is only for traveling to and from shows.

Wheels are compomotive TH mono's in 8x15.

Engine is a fully rebuilt (by last owner) 1.8 16v with polished and ported head with oettinger 4 branch and magnex full system.

I couldn't 'just show' that tbh.

I'd have to drive it, and appreciate the now 'old school' hot hatch, with all its' deficiencies.

I'd clean it 4 times a week though:thumbup:

The car is my daily driver as only live a couple of miles away from work. Only got the bra to save the bonnet when going up and down the motorway to and from shows.

Trust me to get it ready just as it snows. At least the front spoiler can act as a snow plow.

Love it, nicw work.

Very , very nice example. Well done

How an older Golf should / should have looked. Good Job - though as with others not sure about the 'bra' thingy.

A lot of hard work there - worth it for the looks you'll get.

burberry cap on order?

looks nice

what does the bra do for you? :) Seriosuly why?

have you actually read this thread at all?

have you actually read this thread at all?

He can't read, he just gets his daft friend to read the short words, and then posts what he thinks is a fitting response;) :D

:P

it does seem that way at times.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Lovely looking example of a classic :D Ditch the bra though ;)

Chris

That looks awesome. I lover MK2s and the wheels really suit it. The 16v engine is a real screamer too. A mates got one, with a kit to allow him to fit an open cone filter in place of the air box, but keeping the airbox lid due to the injection gubbins. Combined with a Magnex oval exhaust it sounds like its supercharged!

I'm currently in love with Schmidt TH-Line wheels, but not the price of them! If I ever get a mk1/2 as a project car then I'll do my best to get hold of a set! Euro-style FTW!

Nice one Paul...you planning on keeping this one though lol! Your insurance company will start thinking your a trader! :D

burberry cap on order?

Eh? What exactly is ch@v about a Euro Golf

I have had a letter off the DVLA before now asking me if i was a trader due to me changing cars so often :D

For Chris i dont have any caps i leave them for corsa drivers

Thats a big thumbs up from me.. like it alot, though the chrome in the bumpers would be the only thing I'd change.

Was not the best of days today for driving it today but cleaned it when i got home just to get the salt off.

Should be getting most of my missing interior bits this weekend and need to setup the stereo and amp even though it does sound very good out of the box.

Wipers worked well which was the main thing with todays weather :D

Very nice, it looks really clean

Hats off to that Gold - awesome!
