Got the Fabia back

Featured Replies

Well thanks to Andy at APS for doing an amazing job getting my car back together.

Had some major fun over the past few months (!!).

Original issue was fixed up but the block was damaged (haircrack) so it was decided a different engine would be best.

Got a PD130 block, right engine code etc, but it was from a Golf and some of the fittings were different. Fortunately a PD130 from a Fabia vRS came along with 11k on the clock and that was fitted instead.

That engine's oil pump was not behaving, new one fitted (warranty).

Done a couple of hundred miles so far and it appears to be behaving itself.

I cannot say thanks enough to the whole team at Automotive Performance Services in Brackley (APS) - top job from Andy on getting it back together so quickly on top of the high workload I know (and have seen) exists :)

No doubt I'll be visiting again soon for a checkup, got to drop a couple of thousand miles on first :)

Well done mate!:D

let me tell you, the Bahrain chapter of Briskoda is going out to celebrate tonight for you!

Nice to see good things finally happening to a great guy.

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy

Bas

:woot: :woohoo:

Finger's crossed for reliability this time, but with using a fresh engine you're more or less starting again how I started off, and I'm almost 35k to the good now with no issues!

Thanks guys, it was quite nice to have it back :D

Once it's stable etc more tweaking will follow ;)

Good news

Hooray.

Yippee

Good to hear you're mobile again :)

In fact, I have an offer to make for next weekend ;)

I'm also surprised Bas hasn't screamed for a dyno plot yet ;):D

I havent actually because it isn't yet time - still a couple of sweet bits to go on and then the ultimate custom map to be done......

THEN we'll be treated to the mother of all dyno plots....

Dyno plot is already posted on the site (assuming nothing drastic has changed ;))

Good news after the long saga. Looking forward to see the plots when you've finished.

For the time being, lemme attach a few to give you a preview, they were done on the previous engine but should be pretty darn close.

There will be further tweaking & injectors are still to go in but I've attached some plots just in case ;)

The plots were done on a superchips rolling road and to compare figures, 145ish on standard ECU (like at JKM) vs 177 bhp on stage 1 custom code (probably not far off based on my hardware) vs 201 bhp on superchips map (conservative map).

Will get it tweaked in the near future but got to put a couple of thousand miles on first :)

Grr forum limit hit - lemme drop in some URLs instead:

At last a little bit of good fortune goes your way, i hope it lasts (i'm sure it will now).

Got to pop down and see Andy and Co soon.

Skoda replaced it under warranty! Blimey! Nice one ;)

:thumbup::D Sounds like good fun

I wish it was replaced under warranty :P

Nah the oil pump etc were replaced by the engine supplier. Not Skoda ;)

Not fair to expect warranty on that side of things from Skoda tbh but also exceeded my 60k limit :D
