De locking the furby

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Ive just peered out the window and noticed a young lad on a bike taking a keen interest in my dads octavia's passenger window. Luckily he rode off but I noticed he turned around and came back and this time crouched down at the passenger door. I shouted down to my dad and he went out, which scared the lad away (btw hes a ch@v - sort of re enforces the stereotype to be honest). But I then realised that the passenger side locks on my dads car are replaced by a blanking - which got me thinking...

Is it "doable" to remove the lock from the passenger / both sides of the furby and replace them with a blanking?

Whats involved?

Does anyone else have both of their locks "delocked" and have you ever been caught out by a dead remote central locking battery?

Ta!

You have to move some fuse (so you have a way of getting in, in case the fuse blows you're stuffed).

You can then get blanking stuff or properly delock IIRC :)

There was a thread a while back about EddyH getting locked out of his delocked octavia because of a flat battery

There is a workaround yes, but it's generally nicer to have to avoid that particular one (and no I dunno it) unless you have some contacts that know how to achieve it :)

You should never get caught out with a flat battery if you connect two jumpers to the battery and tuck them under the front out the way. But this fuse thing could be a problem if you cannot get to it.

Steve(lfc958 that is) had his locks blanked over by the stealership over a year ago.Someone had had a go at getting into the car when it was parked outside the house and had damaged the drivers door lock. The stealership were dubious about doing it for the obvious reasons but we have had not problems and it does look better.

Must admit I'm quite tempted to get it done, looks good, better security and why not :D

Doesn't the Fabia have the passenger side blanked off anyway?

Not on mine :)

Why not get them colour coded at the same time :D

Is this a 2005 model change then? I presume yours is a MY04?

Mine is an 05 plate.

It has a lock on the outside, the delocking would get shot of access to, or even the whole, key-related locking mechanism and blank that off.

i.e. remote control open/close only.

Dunno if that's what you meant?

My pass side is delocked, and its a 03 plate :S

I think I've seen a plate that you cover the lock with. Looks like it's de-locked as a deterrent. If the battery goes flat, you use a screwdriver to prise off.

Milotec maybe?

Hmm I must be wrong then  - will check when I go back outside, I could be very much wrong :o

You can replace the front door handles with the ones from the rear.

My mate got hold of a MkVI Golf GTI delocking kit; bought it off eBay...

eBay.co.uk: VW Golf MK4 & Bora DE LOCKING KIT delock delocking (item 180096539866 end time 13-Apr-07 20:23:02 BST)

VW use same handles on Fabia as on Golf...

The plates come blank (unprimed) and most sprayers will do them for a tenner...

i got this kit to go on my Fabia; haven't fitted it yet but will have a bash this weekend and stick some pics on...

Aye, if you can put up a guide with pics that would be great
