Are the Fabia vRS Engines Made By Audi or Skoda or VW?

Featured Replies

Was talking to this bloke Friday and he had a Fabia 1.4.

Told me that the last five cars he has had were Skoda's

Anyhow he told me that the engines for Fabia are actually built by Audi?

Any truth in this or is it bull!!

Thank you all

Well, I had an Audi symbol embossed on the sump of my old car. They're all the same anyway, so why should it matter which factory they're made in? I'm pretty sure all Skoda engine parts come from VW or Audi, but I do know they get assembled in the Skoda factory - I've seen it happening in the flesh. :)

Cheers devonutopia

I'd heard the skoda factory were making all the PD engines, because they had a better "quality control" er... dunno how to state it... more working engines and less mistakes on the production line?! than the german factorys...

I heard that Skoda make the 3 cylinder petrol engines for the group. You can tell the bloke down the pub that Skoda made the body panel press tools for Bentley.

Lets face it its all VAG, and its all working to VAG design and tolerance, so does it matter?

Or is it all Skoda and working to Skoda design and tolerance? ;)

Engines and gearboxes are made in various factories for all of the brands in the group.

Whilst at the Skoda Mlada Boleslav factory last year we saw them making engines and gearboxes for all brands.

The PD engines are made in Poland and were designed by audi engineers.

Maybe the next Skoda will be nuclear powered ?

I seem to remember being told the made the hub for the london eye.

But the memory is not what it was when I was younger :)

If it's a 1.4MPI it will be a Skoda engine and the entire Fabia will have been assembled in a Czech Prison by prisoners:D

However the 2.0 is assembled by gypsies in a trevellers site in west yorkshire, which is why it manages a staggering 115BHP

where as any Chaebol Car are designed in South Korea by a gang of blind School children, and then put together by a bunch of monkeys

Sorry just had to do it

Related to this, did VAG purchase Skoda engineering etc or just Skoda auto?

I believe it was just the Auto part. I know Skoda build trams, and have nothing to do with the car portion of Skoda.

It can make quite a difference where things are made. In the late 80s Polo production was transferred to Pamplona (the SEAT factory in Spain) from wolfsburg. Build quality dropped considerably, particularly in the durability of the paint/rustproofing. Most of these problems were not entirely rectified until the introduction of the mk4 in 1994.

Skoda Auto is totally different company from Skoda a.s. (maker of trams and other stuff). Except the name there is no connection between them.

I thought the same, different parts made all over.

By the way, I'm going to the Czech Republic later this year, can I just turn up and go for a tour or do i need to book well in adavnce?

You can go into the mueseum at will but I think the factory tours are pre-booked. Have a look on the website.
