I love the soundtrack. Andy Green has got tho have the biggest balls in the world! listen to the breathing to get an idea of the workload. I love the way the supersonic shockwave is standing just ahead of the camera at one point as well.

Anyone read the book about the SSC project? An amazing effort by all concerned and an achievement not likely to be equalled or surpassed easily.

You can see the car at Coventry Transport Museum, along with footage of the record breaking runs.

I always thrill to this sort of thing. One piece of footage that made a lasting impression was the aerial shot of the car going across the desert, a swathe of the desert surface possibly 50 feet either side of the car being pushed up by the supersonic shock wave clearly visible.

To be fair, I think you'd be faster on a bicycle than SSC round the bends.

i've still got the BBC TV programme about the record beating supersonic runs on video , absolutely superb viewing especially the high shots over the vehicle with the sound waves coming of the front

I thought i would resurect this thread around the official worlds fastest car - The Hire Car

Well having just done 900 miles in one i can categorically say - Its Not

There was a diesel Ford Transit could out accelerate up a hill, my hire car :(

And i am still trying to work out all the hype around the so called excelltn feedback from the steering, there wasnt any, it was heavy and dull.

In case you are wondering it was a Ford Focus Style, brand new fresh off the transporter.

I will be glad to get back into my furby.

The vid I like off SSC is where you see the sonic line forming in the dust before the car, than touches the car as a straight line (left to right), then starts to cone and move half way down the car just as the boom hits.

You tube doesnt seem to have that aerial shot
