VRS vs Leon

Featured Replies

I have a vRS and my boyfriend has a Cupra R. I think MINE is much quicker and he thinks HIS is much quicker. He says there's no debate!

The vRS feels fast because it has bags of torque to kick you back, the Cupra R is very smooth and reasonably quiet so you don't realise the speed. If you went head to head the Cupra R would be a spot in the distance, assuming they are both standard.

Top speed of a petrol is gonna muller it eventually, also when driving off from zero speed the same kinda rev range/gearing thing always tends to be the problem :P

My Fabia is fairly nippy but I reckon I cant put the power down that well anyway so not a lot I can do if someone wants to go faster :P

During the trip to WSM some speed was used every once in a while when safe, and there werent many that really got away - that said, I reckon a lot of the Octavias would have trashed it if they had been able to get higher up in 4th

Just enjoy the car, racing is not for the public road anyway, a bit of a laugh is fine ;)

quite right, the cupra R didn't come out till 02 but it may have had an older plate on it if the owner liked it :)

Did he have a girlfriend/wife sitting next to him by any chance? They're the most effective speed-limiting devices known to man. They have a tendency to kick in very suddenly and keep an audio alarm going long after you slow down.....

I tend to watch my speed very carefully when carrying this sort of device on board......

Am lucky on this one! She doesn't complain at all when I drive fast, but when I do obey speed limits on public roads...."Why are you going so slow??" :D

I'm coming from a Honda Prelude Vtec which was a fairly fast car but you had to rev it up to 7 thou to really appreciate it. And by the time you had done that you were usually speeding. A lot of todays performance cars (the realistically affordable ones I mean) are only giving you an adrenaline rush at high speed, because the best engine performance is only available at high revs. The fact that most of the magazines test these cars on a track doesn't help matters in my opinion. A car might be great fun on a track but usually the performance is unobtainable on the road.
