VRS vs Leon

Featured Replies

all

just come in to work this morning (via a private road) and had a Leon follow me

wasnt sure what type it was (may have been even just a bog standard)

but he was keeping up with me till about 100 even on accellaration - he then seems to drop back a little..... is this normal for the bog standard Leons? (ps he didnt get past!)

any more information.... well it was yellow and X reg... mines a bog vrs 07

guy seemed to enjoy it as i got a thumbs up as i left the private road...

Engine? Spec?

The faster Leons would leave you for dust, modded or not.

Arhhh, those where the days......

wish i knew... i might have been tempted to buy one!

from looking at pics on the web im sure it was a cupra r...... but he didnt seem to have the same pull over 100 as i did....

I got my car tuned by Forge at the same time that a Saudi Leon Cupra got tuned up with a 1.8 Turbo engine in it.

Did some friendly racing with it just afterwards - he wasn't too happy that we seemed almost identical up to 70 mph where we slowed down....

Gotta be a mathematical way of comparing diesel bhp + torque against petrol bhp+ torque. Pure bhp he deffo had more than me but the cars seemed to perform identically....

yes, I am confused but it's ok really..............

Perhaps he spotted the police car in the distance ;)

Did he have a girlfriend/wife sitting next to him by any chance? They're the most effective speed-limiting devices known to man. They have a tendency to kick in very suddenly and keep an audio alarm going long after you slow down.....

I tend to watch my speed very carefully when carrying this sort of device on board......

I know exactly what you mean!!

My device is in there most weekends so I have to make the most during the week on the way to work.

Just wish there was a mute button..........?

I used to drive an Alfa 156. One of its best features was the fact that the speedo was located at the end of a "tunnel pod" - thereby preventing the speed-limiting device obtaining visual confirmation of any excessive speed. It certainly helped to prevent unwanted alarm triggers.

The last time mine went off was at 130mph, so i think shes set fairly high.

Mine's been bouncing of the limiter so often she's broke!! I can go as fast as I want :D

What?

 Same here.

I test drove a LCR - it was no faster than the Fabia vRS at all.

Im joking. It was alot faster.

You think that's quick, you should try the Fabia 2.0l ..... assuming you could handle it ;)

Chris

I

Get your Fabia remapped. Then the LCR doesn't feel fast. It's too smooth, and .. for me boring. So got rid of it.

A properly sorted VRS will give an LCR a run for it's money round a track. Driven both

and although the fabia is harder to drive fast if you know what your doing you can easily keep an LCR behind you.

you may be able to keep the LCR behind you but if he got infront he wouldn't have such worries as you wouldn't be able to keep up. like a few others on here i have had a play against fabia's both standard and mod'd round tracks in perfect weather, damp weather and on an airfield whilst i was running ~200bhp according to RR days and have always been faster than them. they are not as quick as they feel which may wel make them more fun but for making progress they aren't as capable :)

Dropping back from excessive speed is normal for the bog-standard, well-adjusted individual.

Agreed! Its more of the I can but choose not to... i.e. chavveh's pushing there 1.1's/1.2's around bends tyres squeeching or pushing to the limit of there top speed of 99mph all the time on motorways.. *yawn*.....

The Cupra would leave a Fabia vRS for dust (standard for standard) never mind the Cupra R. If it looked like a cupra then perhaps it was a 150 derv? I can't see there being much in it between that and a standard Fabia.

If it was an X plate it can't have been a Cupra R (and it wouldn't look anything like one either). Will have been a 180bhp cupra at best. :)

and if memory serves me they didn't do the "lesser" leons in yellow.cupra only.but don't quote me on that.

No you can get an "R" in yellow.

I have a vRS and my boyfriend has a Cupra R. I think MINE is much quicker and he thinks HIS is much quicker. He says there's no debate!
