Favorit Fuel economy

Featured Replies

Hey all,

Just got myself a favorit lxie plus. The car is on a m reg. Now i put 40 quids worth of fuel in it and got 280 miles before the fuel gauge was back on the red. Now before you ask i did keep it in the green section on the rev counter.

Does this seem right or wrong what i am getting?. i thought maybe a faulty fuel gauge due to the light not working on it.

Help please .......

P.s for anyone else with a favori, there is a great ebay shop for spares. the name is Jorily Skoda, i have used them and highly reccommend.

Regards Daz

sounds a bit thirsty to me- mine fav does about 330 miles to £35

what sort of driving do you do- town will obviously be lower

I live in the welsh countryside and also roads are windy i do long journeys and keep it in the green.

Sounding a bit thirsty there for a favorit used on long journeys, ID expect up to 350 or more out of a tank full on decent journeys.

Check the state of your air filter and plugs, plug colour can tell you if things are running a bit rich. Staying in the green on the rev counter can help with fuel economy but style of friving can make a difference as well wide open throttle to get to the top of the green as fast as possible will actually use more fuel than gently accelerating way past the green.

My last injection favorit would get 280 miles to the tank on short trips to work but that was 5 miles each way as soon as I did journeys over 15 miles or so fuel economy picked right up, I suspect because less time was spent stopped at lights etc on longer journeys. Constant speed helps fuel economy a lot. using brakes heavily regularly also wastes fuel you are killing momentum you have gained by burning petrol.

Thought I might add a little tidbit of info. My Skoda Favorit's mileometer sticks occasionally (about 100700 miles on the clock). I didn't notice this myself without being told by the previous owner, but it does. If this problem is also on your car then you would get a low MPG calculation. For example I went from Leeds to South Wales recently and the odometer at the bottom was stuck at 146 miles after resetting before the journey. Would be nice if the journey was that short.

Thanks for your help with the detail but we think we found the problem. There is a little sensor which commonly goes on favorits which tells the engine how much fuel to suck in. At the moment this sensor is broke and the engine constantly sucks in the fuel thinking the engine is cold. so hopefully that will fix it

Hello daz51.Can you tell me where it is located this senzor???Thx.

andreiu I think this sensor is the oxygen sensor. It is detailed in the haynes manual.

I wonder if the sensor could have been antagonised by the recent morrisons/tesco petrol contamination which broke oxygen sensors on loads of cars?!

andrieu I think hes talking about the lambda sensor, not sure if your system runs one?

Hi.I do have a lamda probe on my Favorit.

Hey folks, sorry for long reply, yeah i do have a sensor / probe. On M reg favorits they shared alot of the parts with the first felicias.

My M-reg Favorit estate has averaged 37mpg over the last few fill ups. Dunno how far a full tank would go as I don't usually let it go below 1/4 before filling up again. (And before somebody tells me to do the maths I dunno how much the tank holds...)
