Fabia with Bi-Xenons.

Featured Replies

I can't believe I hadn't thought of this before, but thanks to Wardy for triggering this little idea off!

OEM Xenons with 6000K upgrade........

and Xenon main beam with 6000K bulbs.........

Main_6000K.jpg

Just been for a 30 min drive down some country lanes & I am speechless!!

Very, very bright. Proper spot lamp brightness. Reminds me of the beams from my Cibie Ocsars I had on a previous car.

They do take a couple of seconds to warm up to full brightness, buy boy are they bright.

I do have a intermittent problem with one of them igniting & then switching off. Maybe a voltage issue, but if anyone has any suggestions, please shout up.

I'll try to get a pic of the actual beam pattern later on.

If I were you mate, I would now check my trousers for scorch marks.

Still tempted to do bi xenon conversion on the MR2. It looks like and easy enough job, only problem is where to mount the ballasts. There is surprisingly little space in the front even with no engine to clutter it up.

:D

Just glad they went to a good home :)

They look superb - bet dark country lanes are loads of fun now!

Did you get the bulb issue sorted then? I've not heard anything back as yet...

Steve

Jon, Id say I will keep an eye out for you but Im sure that with them beasts switched on it shouldnt be too hard - but what ever you do DONT flash me. I want to keep my retina's intact thank you :P

but what ever you do DONT flash me. I want to keep my retina's intact thank you :P

That could be completely misconstrued, but let's not even go there...

;) :P

Given the time it takes the Xenons to strike, have you wired the headlight flasher up to the foglights?

bi-xenons? i've heard of xenons, but whats bi-xenons?

A Xenon bulb for both dipped and full-beam.

Good point - or would it be possible for the sidelight bulb to take on this role?

xenons that sleep with other xenons and regular bulbs at the same time :P

Ideally, the factory Xenons would be bi-Xenon in the one enclosure.

Have a look here....

HiDPlanet.com :: Index

Preferred units would be Audi A6/RS6 or BMW E46 projectors.

Most bi-xenons are one HID bulb per side, with a shutter in front it for dipped beam.

When switching to main beam, the shutter drops & you have a direct beam.

This is also backed up with a halogen bulb for flashing etc.

Whilst I had the headlight out, I had a look at the projector unit & it seems they are removable. Maybe at a later date I will fit a proper bi-xenon unit.

I have a feeling they'd been damn expensive though!!!

On the subject of flashing, I don't tend to flash very often (!!) but I am working on an alternative route.

Yeah, got a replacement bulb for a decent price in the end.

I'm thinking maybe it's connected to the problem I'm having with it igniting & the switching off sometimes.

I've had a browse on HIDPlanet.com & they seem to be fitting relays to solve any power issues with the OEM wiring.

can you get the bi-xenons for your fogs and sidelites to?

would look good i all lights are the same colour.

At the moment i have ultra bright LED's in the side lights.

I wouldn't bother about the fog lights, as proper HID units would be too bright for foggy conditions. The light would just reflect back. Even Xenon style halogen bulbs would be too bright IMO.

this thread caught my eye, a few q' is this conversion a whole new xenon setup inside the headlamp, ie another of the dome shaped lenses next to the other with another ballast etc, or a way to get full beam (maybe dual filament bulb) from the existing unit.

im assuming a complete additional unit located in the main beam section of the headlight. but just checking. thanks simon.

No not quite.

I have used a H7 HID conversion kit for the main beam. So the HID bulb sits in the holder where the original halogen H7 bulb would sit. Additional ballasts are used to ignite the main beam.

The OEM dipped xenon HID projector is untouched (apart from the 6000K bulb upgrade).

Where did you get the LED side lights from, as I quite fancy some myself

How much for these jobbies then?

When I fitted Xenon's to a previous car, I found I was regularly only getting one side working. Due to the current required to ignite the Xenon's I decided to install a relay - initially I had intended to fit the relay to save my existing wiring/relay but it also solved the problem of only one working at a time. If you go down that route, let me know if you need a relay as I have several so you are more than welcome to one.

Thanks for the info Phil.

I might take you up on that offer.

PM me if you want one, I don't often check in the Fabia room. Everyone stops talking and stares:rofl:
