Hi all,

Sounds like VW are going to kick *** on fuel economy: they have launched a version of the VW Polo that will give you 72.4mpg (officially) and a poitential range of more than 700 miles per tank.

Sounds great: I wonder if we will ever get a version of the Fabia with fuel economy like that?

Dave

I could probably get 70mpg riding on 165 wide tyres. :D I wouldn't fancy the handling implications though. I noticed it still weighs 1.1 tons which can't help the economy.

Still over 1000Kg though. We need car manufacturers to really start looking to low wieght vehicles.

Most of the safety features push up weight 'that' little extra bit. Will probably keep getting heavier as the year's progress...

we already have Fabias that will do that sort of economy , we just don't have drivers with light feet

If VW were to look at pushing this sort of thing with the Fox, there might be some hope. But the 9N3 Polo was never going to be the best start for a weight efficient platform.
