ARRRRGGGG!!!! I want my car back! lol

Just spoken to garage and the engine is in but wont fire up due to a faulty crank sensor.... hes ringing round tryin 2 get one and hopefully a garage just 2 mins down the road has one they think.

I just hate being sat here having no control over stuff like this... wish i could be there sorting it out myself!!! lol

So if all goes well.... (big if!!) i should have her back some time today!!!!

if you are itching to get a crank sensor. get one from a breakers yard, you only need a 13mm spanner.... it's on top of the gearbox(kind of over the flywheel)

I know which sensor it is and so does the guy at garage... but he's just struggling to find one. not that many breakers yards in the area and the ones we do have dont have one....

Skoda garage dont have one either... so it will probably have to be ordered from skoda or butts or something.

bummer.

Finally got nelly back complete with her "new" engine.

Recieved the crank sensor through the post today and took it up, they fitted it and shes running beautifully now... so much quieter and smoother than before.

No more weird rattly noises at higher revs coming from that broken crankshaft! lol

The only thing is that the rev counter still doesn't work! so must be the dial itself i reckon...

or a wiring problem:O

or a wiring problem:O

Hmmm, i had thought of that but the thing is that the counter kicks in at about 4000 rpm and works up to 4500 rpm then stops, then as the revs drop back down it just falls to zero, so theres obviously a signal gettin through.....

ah ok... it's not a wiring thing then :o the rev counter only has one wire from the ecu....

faulty dashpod then

yeh i reckon so.... isnt too much of a job the main bit is dismantling the dash to get the clocks out.

Can get a new rev counter for bout

Did it work before the engine swap?.

thats a bigger job than swopping the engine in the first place. he he he

No it didnt. It worked just as it does now... i.e. only at 4000 rpm. Its no huge deal really, just annoying.

And yeh ur rite pinkskud... tis a bigger job than the engine swap hehe.

had a really gud drive in her today including some motorway and shes running so smooth and quiet.

I was cruising at 70mph and all you could hear was the wind on the car and not the really LOUD rattle you could previously... just like a different car all together....

Sounds like the timing chain may have given up if it was clattering quite badly.

No it was the crankshaft that was knackered and then this in turn knackered a piston (or two) and knackered the cranksensor too.

The old man that owned it previously had run it dry of oil and caused damage to the crank.

We had a run over to York at the weekend (about 120 miles on the motorway) and Nelly out-performed herself i must say.

Cruised along as 70 all the way just sipping away at her fuel now and then... lol

Was really quiet and smooth drive etc.

Saw another felicia owner on the way back... a black P reg 1.6... a young driver like myself, he went bombing past but slowed down next to me and was having a right good stare at the car! hehe... must have been jealous! :)

  • 3 weeks later...

I'm jealous :) At least with your rev counter you'll know you're not redlining it constantly.

Had a lovely trip up to the lakes this weekend in Nelly... tis only about 40 miles up to lake windemere etc from where we are so we went camping for the weekend...

The boot was absolutely jam packed with stuff... as well as having the small side of the split rear seat down and a couple of bags on back seat...

She stilled pulled fantastically all the way over the ups and downs and bends in the roads with 2 of us and all that heavy stuff... and then gave someone and their wet dog a lift back and still pulled away great... no thrashing required! lol

Heres a pic of her camping with us.. .hehe

haha... that is almost picturesque...... :P

glad the car's still going well

you should see mine with two v-big mountainbikes in, and two full kit bags, and two sets of body armor, and tents and sleeping bags, and to top it all two 6 foot 6 blokes.

lowered and some!

heh! felicias are ace for camping!had mine doing the offroad thing last weekend- fully stowed and loaded:thumbup:
