Traction control sensitivity

Featured Replies

Hi all,

As today was the first wet day we've had in a few weeks, and the first wet day since I started suspecting my traction control wasn't working, I decided to have a go at provoking the sodding thing into doing something. I chose a roundabout up the road and whilst no-one was looking I dumped the clutch and lit up the front tyres. Sure enough a the light flashed on the dash and the brakes made the wheels kind of go bob bob bob as I moved forward. In fact it was quite effective as even though I was booting it I did move forward quite well which I wouldn't have done without it.....just sitting there spinning otherwise.

Anyway, my question is regarding the sensitivity of the ASR. Can it be adjusted or are they all so difficult to provoke? I've driven other cars with traction control before and they're much more keen to kick in, wheras the I had to practically annihilate the front tyres before mine did anything.

Thanks,

Chris.

I have to say i often get a flash from the dash even when pulling hard in just 2nd on a dry road. Doesnt seem to hard to provoke. Car is standard so no extra power either.

Mine actually seems fairly erratic. If I boot it at the junction leaving work it always kicks in. However, sometimes I can't get it to kick in if I try. Still, as long as it works when I need it, thats all that matters :)

Mine seems to kick in quickly but does not seem as affective as it should be. sounds like the tyres are getting shredded and the power never seems to be let off at all.

I'm just shocked at how much the wheels had to spin before it intervened.

I had to make a point of dumping the clutch to let the wheels spin before it flashed at me.

Kind of makes it feel pointless as I'd normally have eased off the noisy pedal before the ASR cut in.

Mine seemed to flash on a almost daily basis :(, worst is when the road is damp / wet and you try to pull out of a junction speedily. Much better now everything has dried up. However would prefer it to allow the wheels to slip/spin slightly (then I could ease off the gas) rather than jumping straight in and cutting the power.

Mine is always lit up, oh yeh that's 'cos I always turn it off.:D

Mine just annoys me, kicks in when I dont want it and does nothing when I could actually appreciate it - seems to go a lot better with it turned off aswell.

used to kick in more - now not so often - gonna fit an ignition switched relay to turn it off, only want it on if it's raining TBH....

Mine is always lit up, oh yeh that's 'cos I always turn it off.:D

im with schrickvr6. Mines always lit up

1.get in car

2.start engine

3.ASR OFF

4.seat belt

etc.....

always seems to cut in to late and just kill the power when yo need it

(i only use it when driving in icey conditions)

 TURN IT OFF:thumbup:

Kicks in quite late on mine, so normally turn it off for the placebo of going faster :D
