Smoking Furby vRS

Featured Replies

The young fella isn't able to log on at the moment so I thought I'd post this up for him. The Furby seems to be smoking excessively. I know there'll be a bit of smoke if you really boot it, but even slight acceleration would give the below results. Any thoughts on what might be causing it ?

Overfuelling is most likely.

is the young fella using one of those cheap ebay resistor thingys? or maybe MAF on the way out.

mmm a resistor box will do that...

OR maybe the air filter is really clogged.. a pipercross element may help (and a PD160 air intake) I know mine smoked more as the hot weather came in , but not that much unless I had the resistor box on......

He hasn't the resistor thingy, not sure what it is but he doesn't. He does have it remapped, can't recall the name of the one he has. Regarding Filter, he has a K&N Filter and he thinks that might be overdue a cleaning. He's gonna try it when he gets home. May aswell try the easy stuff first

Cheers for the help

Mine has been smoking like that too :), I cleaned my filter element, and although it still smokes, it's not as bad now. Hot weather won't be helping at all.

he was told to take it out the road and drive it on to clear it out of it, but if it is a clogged filter then I figure that would make it worse.

Gave my green a clean on saturday. It was really bad, and was surprisingly dirty considering I'd cleaned it not all that long ago.

If you get caught out off boost, they all do this. I wouldnt worry. Its a characteristic of the engine

 You're not kidding...

I remember following Emily when she had the "one-click" on, and it was smoking WAY more than the pic, so if it's re-mapped, i really wouldn't worry too much :)

Some Millers Sport 4 additive should help cut it down - and have other benefits i.e. power or economy (depending on right foot tendency), clean injectors etc

But, admittedly, there does seem to be an issue with 'Smoky' which needs resolving 1st.

Clean air filter, some millers power 4/diesel clean and then a good high speed run at hig revs down an m/way should help :)

I had a similar problem on mine. It turns out the join on the plastic part of the intercooler pipes failed!!!!! The aluminium lugs that grip the circlip have worn away. either get a new part or do what i did. 4 cable ties hold it in place. better than new and massive reduction in smoke.
