Revo?!?!?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am fairly new to BRISKODA and signed up to the National Meet at Bruntingtorpe as soon as I read about it as it will be fun to meet with like-minded people.

After a bit of research I decided to get the following work done on my week-old Octavia at JBS in Chesterfield:

- REVO 4-bar program

- Forge Motorsport diverter valve

- 4 bar fuel pressure regulator

- K&N air filter

- Revo SPS3 programmer (to adjust timing and boost settings)

I must say I am very pleased with my new car and the REVO upgrade. For reference, I have just opted out of my company 330i as I am fed up with the company car tax.

JBS were very good and James seemed to know his stuff. However, I was really surprised (tonight) to read that JBS are less than popular on this forum! So just to set the record straight James @ JBS is as keen on Skoda VRS's as we are (if not more so) and has spent a load of his own money on his VRS (which is awesome by the way!). He IS going to come to Bruntingthorpe, so give the guy a break! I am sure he will be more than happy to take you for a spin in his car if you are interested.

See you at Bruntingthorpe!

Ross.

Hello, is this James the guy who has a black rs octavia with 19"'s, and a revo remap?

Personally I dont have a problem with the guy, in fact ive never even spoken to him, but it seemed some members couldnt handle it when he posted the dyno graph he had.

LOL Wish I was going to brunts to see the competition.

Well i wasn't going to bother, but if you insist on posting inflammatory comments...

As has been stated, James is MORE than welcome here, but his initial posts were as a Revo customer, not as a dealer. This is what annoyed several members (me included) who saw it as a blatant attempt to plug his business via the backdoor.

END OF STORY.

Ok apologies for the comment, moderators feel free to delete my reply.

Hell no, I'm gonna leave it there. The site is about debate.

Anyway as the learned member for Hartlepool says, it was the way he went from "customer" to dealer that got peoples' backs up. It was also that lack of info on how the figures were obtained.

Me, I had no problem with his dyno, mine had more (even with him running nitros).

He is more than welcome on the site and at the trackday (I notice his name is down). Will be good for people to see all the various options available (AmD, APR, Jabba, Revo, Superchip) to see how they drive and how they perform.

If you've gone Revo, good for you. I hope you are as happy with it as I was with my various chips. They all do pretty much the same thing, just in slightly different ways.

Ross,

from a completely objective view, i would suggest you look around the site and see if there are any other options available at a cheaper price.

for instance, i would keep the Forge Diverter, and the 4bar FPR, but i might have used the ABD racing intake kit and another tuner with variable on the fly boost control.....you may find you save more than 50% of the cost of your first choice.

Thanks Steve. My post probably wasn't clear - I have already bought and fitted the stuff on my list.

Ross.

As long as your happy with the work been done and the way your car performs that's all that matters.

IMHO Briskoda has been a particularly hard nut for REVO to crack. This is partly due to the the trial programme problems and the percevied "hard sell" from some of it's dealers.

I have no probs with James or the work that he does and I also look forward to meet him and seeing his "Beast"!

I do understand some of the "harshness" towards him but hopefully after everyone meets at Bruntingthorpe relations will be better.

I guess that's the whole point. I am happy with mr new car and the way it performs since being Revo'd. For me the OBD upload and the relatioship with the local Skoda dealer swung it.

It will be good to meet people at Bruntingthorpe and discuss the various pros/cons of the tuning alternatives.

Ross.

I met James at a Local Skoda dealers and he was very friendly and said that I could pop down and see him any time for any advice (was asking about fitting odds & ends). My vrs has been revo'd and it's enough for me I'm going to get it RR at Nobles Chesterfield just to see what it is doing. If you all want a laugh the new RS4 alloys came yesterday so I fitted them and they look the dogs thingys - been up to Newcastle today and Kerbed the rear one whilst parking - You've got to giggle otherwise I'd cry.

This black skoda came to the SCN stealth RR day,I was well impressed to say the least as was many others. 290bhp from a stock ic and ko3s was mightly impressive figure, namely achieved from the REVO programme and NOS kit,i want one now.Though I didnt ask him to many questions about the turbo glowing bright red whilst doing the runs though.Thnk the guy was waiting for the turbo to let go and give him license to get a big turbo and ic installed.

( btw, revo is also "variable on the fly boost too" with the relevant sps box)

Whats a Ko3? I must be stupid but Im willing to learn!

It's the turbo model

Do you think that Jabba would remap my 4X4 to give 290bhp with NOS?

Denis, easily. You've got 230+ with just a remap, add a zorst and inlet pipe and a 50 shot of NoS and Bob's your uncle, fFanny's your aunt and billy's ya best mate :D

apart from you would have 310bhp not 290.

only brunters will have the answers.

I hope that Brunters does not become a who's got the biggest/fastest etc. The idea of a track-day is to have *safe* enjoyment at speeds that you wouldn't generally drive at on public roads.

I dont think there is much to prove at brunters the enjoyment of a fast Skoda is in the destruction of "superior" makes not other Skoda's.. give me some 911's /355 / NSX to play with for combat.. brunters is skoda's for fun:D

We already know the answers to those questions, so I don't think it will turn out that way.

With respect,

I don't think we need to be told what the purpose of a trackday is.

There will be NO racing by anyone, it's a fun day. Anyone who tries to make it anything other than fun will be removed from the track by the stewards.

Nor will it be allowed to descend into a "mine's bigger than yours" contest. That's when the accidents start.

Anyone who is going there with something to prove would be wise to stay at home ;)

dont hide Denis.... just get the Nos on and join the top speed runs... just watch that Haldex... dont want any expensive faliures on the day...

:sofahide:

No need to hide Denis. I'm just making the point that anyone "misbehaving" will be booted off the track with no refund ;)

  • 2 weeks later...

I've given James the URL to sign up to the Track Day... Thanks for the link Ffelan.

Going back to the earlier posts in this thread, I agree with what some of you have said, but at the end of the day, James is a "customer" as well as a dealer, as it's his own car. If you get what I mean? lol

Ross! Glad you like your new car! Just get Jonny C out of his Fungus and into something VAG!
