Loose spring

Featured Replies

Just found a loose spring under drivers seat - about 6" long with a plastic sleeve.

Anybody got any ideas where it might have come from? Just appeared overnight.

Its probably part of the seat just wondered if it had happened to anyone else.

Think it could be part of the ejector mechanisms!

Surely thats only on the passenger seat otherwise it might be dangerous!

Anybody got any idea what this spring which is the only one underneath the seat does? Big heavy thing in a small plastic sleeve. I can see where it came from but everything on the seat works ok so I'm a bit baffled.

I think it maybe one of the springs from the seat base, that runs the length of the seat. Does the seat feel ok when you are sat in it, try applying pressure to different areas of the seat base and see if anywhere has more give than the rest.

There is only one of these springs. Its pretty heavy duty for a seat and fits into the metal under the seat. You can see it if you raise the seat up all the way and look in from the front. As I said the seat works normally in every way and feels ok, so I'm a bit baffled as to what this 15mm by 150mm spring does, but it has definetly broken off as I've found a couple of bits under there as well.
